Today I bring you Canadian Food in Germany. I am a sucker for Frittenwerk (it’s a chain) and now that they have touchscreens for ordering I don’t have to be embarrassed about ordering poutine with falafel (for vegetarian protein!) on top. So Canadian. I didn’t eat at Ontario. 🇨🇦

This is new to me: The apartment where I’m staying has a communal “washing cellar”. You go into the garden and down some stairs under the building to a basement room where every family in the building has their own washing machine to do their laundry. DO NOT drop any whites! 🧺

In Germany, a monthly pass for ALL of the public transit systems in the country AND all of the regional intercity trains in the country costs less than a monthly Calgary Transit pass. You can use the same ticket in Berlin or Frankfurt or Munich and everywhere in between for €58.

About fifteen years ago I taught a student from Germany who noticed my addiction to sparkling water and at the end of the year gave me a card teaching me how to say it in German. Since then I’ve been to Germany four times and I’m always grateful for his lesson on Sprudelwasser.
