🚨 New Pre-Print! You've just added your 600th model to your negative mining pool and filtered all false negatives. Does any of this even matter when we can apply distillation? In this work with @debforit and @macavaney, we explore data selection in modern ranking. 🧵 Below
Disentangling Locality and Entropy in Ranking Distillation @MrParryParry et al. separate example selection effects from teacher ranking entropy in neural ranking model optimization, showing complex hard-negative pipelines offer minimal gains. 📝arxiv.org/abs/2505.21058
Now at the Demo session @craig_macdonald and @MrParryParry are presenting the beautiful RAG capabilities of PyTerrier #SIGIR2025
How does retrieval impact on Agentic RAG? Let's see what predicted intermediate retrieval quality can tell us! Our IR-RAG@SIGIR'25 paper is on Arxiv: arxiv.org/abs/2507.10411. #SIGIR2025 cc/ @JinyuanF @debforit @mengzaiqiao @craig_macdonald
Join @MrParryParry and myself at our #sigir2025 demo on PyTerrier RAG. 🏠/📒 github.com/terrierteam/py… 📰 arxiv.org/abs/2506.10802 cc/ @JinyuanF @mengzaiqiao
Am I on the Right Track? What Can Predicted Query Performance Tell Us about the Search Behaviour of Agentic RAG @DanielTian97 et al. examine how query performance prediction can provide insights into the search behavior of agentic RAG systems. 📝arxiv.org/abs/2507.10411
Really like this work, if you haven't read it yet, have a look: arxiv.org/pdf/2502.20937 PSA from Ian Soboroff! move to Krippendorff's Alpha if you want to check the annotator agreement!
Now it’s @MrParryParry presenting the reproducibility efforts of a large team of researchers in relation to the shelf life of test collections #sigir2025
Come pop by our presentations if you are interested in how Brain Machine Interfaces🧠are impacting Information Retrieval!
@YashMosh and PhD Candidate @McguireNiall will be travelling to beautiful Padua, Italy, to attend and present at #SIGIR2025 sigir-2025. You can catch @McguireNiall's presentation Towards Brain Passage Retrieval on Monday, the 14th of July, during Humans & Interfaces
Presenting a few works at #SIGIR2025 in lovely Padova, looking forward to great discussions and food 🍝
📢 We're off to #SIGIR2025 in Padova! A large contingent of our students & staff will be at the main conference + tutorials, workshops & #ICTIR2025. Let’s connect if you’re around! 🤝 Also: we're hiring in #FinTech — DM us if you're interested! #IR #Hiring #Research #ACMSIGIR
Pleased to share that Libra is now ranked at Top 3 on ReXrank (rexrank.ai), a public leaderboard for chest X-ray image interpretation. Well done @_xizhang! @ir_glasgow @IDAglasgow @GlasgowCS
🎉 Excited to share that our paper "Libra: Leveraging Temporal Images for Biomedical Radiology Analysis" (w/@mengzaiqiao, @jakelever0 & @EdmondSLHo) is accepted at #ACL2025! 🧠 TL;DR: We present Libra, a temporally-aware MLLM — inspired by "structure determines function" — to…
Happy to share that the OARS@KDD2025 workshop accepts our work. In this work, we turn a sequential recommendation system into a semantic search using generative language models. Apparently, this works really well.
1/9 Happy to share that our paper GLoSS: Generative Language Models with Semantic Search for Sequential Recommendation is accepted at the KDD OARS workshop! 🎉 Paper, code: github.com/krishnacharya/… This is joint work with my wonderful collaborators @asash and Juba Ziani.
