Writer of Yesterday's Kisses Are Still On My Lips, a not-yet produced screenplay rejected by every shop in town. "Where's the dramatic arc?" Um, it's a comedy.
Sunset Blvd, 1982: Whisky a Go Go billboards for The Motels "All Four One" and THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP.
THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP (82) Irving book about one man's odyssey thru a turbulent life an intentionally absurd, thought-provoking quasi-comedy that careens wide-eyed thru a tempest of emotions. Acting terrific, but tendency to lump together sexual matters & violence queasy.
RED GARTERS (54) Stranger in town wants the man who killed his brother. When he finds him, he kind of likes him, but when a duel is called it must be fulfilled. Rootin'-tootin' musical shot in 3D but released in 2D. Script just an outline but song score good & colors eye-popping.

MACKENNA'S GOLD (69) Marshal in 1874 AZ memorizes treasure map, is taken hostage by outlaw & gang who want the gold for themselves. Breathtaking vistas in Super Panavision 70, but western botched by choppy editing & miscasting. Sharif game but unconvincing, finale brutal & noisy.
TED (12) Boston boy makes a wish that his teddy bear comes to life; it does and, 27 years later, the world-renown, celebrated talking toy & the 35yrold man are still buddies. Despite an apparent need to be obnoxious and un-PC, "Ted" is affable R-rated whimsy & often very funny.

Emmys history: Marlo Thomas was nominated 4 times for "That Girl" as Outstanding Lead Actress. Ted Bessell was nominated once.

I hate watching anything on Dailymotion--with ads that play over the program and commercials interruptions every 3mns--but where else can you find episodes of "Alias Smith and Jones"--particularly this Season 1 goodie featuring guest star Claudine Longet.
REFORM SCHOL GIRL (57) Sleazy, hilariously awful melodrama from A.I.P. stars Gloria Castillo as young woman pawed at by all men, sent to a girls' home where she fights with the other teenagers. Poster art better than subpar product. Supporting players look properly embarrassed.

Sunset Strip 1977: That's Debbie Harry leaping for joy upon seeing Blondie's name on the sign outside Licorice Pizza.
Music '78: Joan Jett with Chris Stein and Debbie Harry of Blondie.
'70s music scene: Runaways Cherie, Joan and Sandy with Debbie Harry.
Ted Bessell is one of my fave TV actors, here and as one of MTM's boyfriends.
