Minnesota Task Force 1 is continuing its important work in Texas. Today they were reassigned to the Kerr County area. The terrain and heat, along with the threat of snakes and fire ants, have been hard on the dogs. But everyone is resting and hydrating and staying safe.

Minnesota Task Force 1 (one of our urban search and rescue teams) is now in TX in Travis County NW of Austin. Heavy rain has paused search efforts for now. They’ll report for their first mission at 6 a.m. Monday, joining the effort to find people still missing after the floods.

Minnesota Task Force 1 is headed to central Texas to assist after devastating floods. The team of five rescuers and two K-9s is equipped for 24-hour operations in disaster zones with little or no infrastructure. Our thoughts are with all those affected.

If you’re using fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July, make sure to have a bucket of water. Hot fireworks can cause burns and are a fire hazard if not disposed of properly. It’s simple: 1) Fill a bucket with water. 2) Soak used fireworks. 3) Throw wet fireworks in the trash.
