Earlier this week, the #SLMPD was alerted to a video posted to social media showing a man intentionally throwing fireworks at people and property over the weekend. We immediately initiated a Bomb and Arson investigation, which remains ongoing.
The @SLMPD ended the month of June with 67 murders, the fewest murders since June of 2014 which had 58. We still have a long way to go -- but this is progress. #STL

Over the holiday weekend your @SLMPD officers were busy across the City. Since Thursday, 60 guns were submitted to the Crime Lab, including some full autos, marking a 60% increase during the same period in 2024 and a 160% increase compared to a normal Thursday-Sunday. #SLMPD
During our holiday operation, #SLMPD officers have taken 86 people into custody -- most of them were juveniles. Many of the citations are related to fireworks as we put a dent in the so-called 'fireworks wars.' Parents were cited when they picked up their child.
Our increased police presence is addressing all types of criminal activity. Moment ago, a stolen car fled from officers and detectives. The Escape was spiked and two adults and a 15-year-old were arrested after a foot chase. A firearm was seized. #SLMPD
First firework arrest of the night ⤵️
Undercover detectives with the Anti-Crime Task Force just took an 18-year-old into custody for shooting a firework from a moving vehicle. While searching the vehicle, a firearm was located. Juveniles were also in the vehicle. Parents, do you know where your kids are tonight?
Our holiday operation continues tonight. Since Thursday: Downtown area: 82 people have been taken into custody, 56 are juveniles. Citywide: 46 firearms have been submitted to @SLMPD's Crime Lab, representing a 130% increase from the same period in '24.
4am update: 19 people have been taken into custody and five guns have been seized. 11 of those 19 were juveniles. Officers also towed this ATV from Washington Ave.
12am update: 13 people have been taken into custody so far tonight. Of the 13, nine are juveniles. Notably, we found a firearm on a 13-year-old. #SLMPD
