Final day of #NationalFestivalofFieldwork and we (KEGS) were one of many schools analysing Walton-on-the-Naze's coastal management in the sun today. At least the temperatures were cooler at the coast!

Show Your Stripes day was this weekend but everyday is a day to think about the state of our planet. This year, the GA is running a promotion to spread the news and one random participant will be chosen to receive 10 Show Your Stripes badges to share with their students this…
A few weeks ago, the Summer issue of Teaching Geography was published and to continue the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of TG, four of the current editorial board share their favourite article from the archive and explain why it resonates with them so much. Read the…
This was such a lovely day!
Miss Fryer was delighted to represent @KEGS_Chelmsford at a DofE Buckingham Palace garden party today, celebrating the achievements of many young people, including alumnus Jonathan Hosking, who successfully had his award off just before his 25th birthday. Lots of great memories!
Charlie is enjoying his 3rd day at #GAConf25 ... even finding some cake to celebrate Teaching Geography's 50th birthday. Last few sessions to explore....

Teaching Geography celebration in the #GAConf25 Forum....happy 50th birthday!!

Amazing #GAConf25 talk by @ParasChandaria ... genuine goosebumps with the video near the end. Building understanding on the beauty of Nairobi, the environmental potential, the wide ranging threats and possible solutions that geographers could support.

What a round for a Tolkien geek at the #GAConnf25 quiz...though still missed 2 of the 20 🤭 A lovely way to end the evening even if time ran out for paper aeroplanes! Looking forward to the final day tomorrow.

Another full day of learning and evaluation around geography teaching at #GAConf25. Everything from satellite imagery to Geospatial careers to geographical literacy to synoptic thinking. Now enjoying TeachMeet. (Oh Charlie snuck in too!)

Useful lecture by fellow TG editorial board member @Geography_Emma about what makes a good geography (geographies?) education? #GAConf25 is a brilliant way to share and develop best practice (as is Teaching Geography!)

First day of #GAConf25...an interesting introduction to Bicester with self built houses and multilingual Bicester Village. Then a really fabulous talk from fellow geologist and rock whisperer @jurassicg1rl, broadening further what stories I might hear from rocks in future.

Really pleased with my geology fieldwork week design this week, and super proud of my students who worked really hard to develop excellent knowledge and skills. So many different aspects covered....and the waterproofs didn't come out once!
Geologists from @KEGS_Chelmsford have been working really hard this week on exploring some awesome outcrops and writing up notes in the evenings. Great to still have Dr Hitch teaching the Apes Tor section. 2 more days to pack in as much as we can and continue learning new skills.
Thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this today. Under the direction of Miss Obee, singing with fellow colleagues and so many students....such a great day of music making. We have tough days etc in teaching but moments like this make it worth all the effort. I love my school!
We are looking forward to our carol service at Chelmsford Cathedral this afternoon...lots of rehearsals this morning! Thank you to all involved in supporting, and especially to our music staff.
Time for the maddest night of the year....The Preston 2024. Making a note of what FEO looks like now....it won't look like this by first petrol! Really hope we don't need the assistance of Fletch & Jon in the recovery trucks...

Delighted by this news on Friday 🥰
Thrilled to announce that KEGS has been named State Secondary School of the Year for East Anglia 2025 in the Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2025! Fantastic recognition for our incredible students, staff, parents, governors and friends of the school! thetimes.com/best-schools-l…
It was great to be at this brilliant BBC Proms concert this afternoon. So pleased for Atharv. And even nicer that it was @JessGillamSax from my home area that was presenting. The theme of Gaia made for an excellent sequence of pieces from the young composers. Radio 3, 2215 Sunday
A wonderful experience to hear the BBC Concert Orchestra perform Atharv Gupta's (y11) composition, 'Celestial Awakening' at the BBC Proms which follows on from him winning BBC Young Composer of the Year. You can hear this concert too on BBC Radio 3, Sunday 8th Sept, 10:15pm.
We experienced all weathers at the Spa GP this w/e with challenges for everyone. Sitting on Eau Rouge was amazing. My favourite race bit was watching @OllieBearman make his way from 14th to 7th in the F2 sprint in poor weather...amazing! A shame it then got red flagged (weather).
