#OnThisDay 1984. Hundreds of dockers return to work as the national dock strike comes to an end. The dock strike, lasting two weeks, was sparked when British Steel used unregistered labour to unload ‘blacked’ iron ore at Immingham dock.

#OnThisDay 1984. Peace talks to end the #MinersStrike collapsed after 12 hours of negotiations. The fundamental issue of the talks - the grounds on which pits could be closed - was ultimately not be agreed by either side.
