Meet the youngest Maryland Whipsnake ever, 11-year-old Gaven Bort. Thanks to @MakeAWish, Gaven's story serves as a gentle reminder that lacrosse, like all sports, means more than what the final box score reflects. My story for @PremierLacrosse: premierlacrosseleague.com/articles/meet-…
Jim Stagnitta called Matt Dunn “an amazing leader" after the veteran's halftime speech sparked the Whipsnakes' second-half comeback vs. the Waterdogs. "The more voices we have echoing the right points, the stronger we're going to be," Dunn said. premierlacrosseleague.com/articles/matt-…

The Whipsnakes have struggled against the 32-second shot clock all season. But after Brad Smith scored a two-pointer to cut the Waterdogs' lead in half, Nardella won the faceoff, which led to Smith finding the back of the net for the second time in 15 seconds.
LOVE how quickly the @PLLWhipsnakes attack after the faceoff win (and then did it down a man). Clean win + quick sub from LSM + ready to attack immediately is a recipe for success. It's what made them so dangerous in '24 - would love to see more of it down the stretch.

Last night, TJ Malone (38A) passed Brad Smith (36A) for the second-most assists in Whipsnakes history. @PLLWhipsnakes all-time assists leaders: - Matt Rambo - 84 - TJ Malone - 38 - Brad Smith - 36 Here is the assist that pushed him to No. 2:
The Whipsnakes have three more regular-season games remaining... July 25 v. Atlas Aug 2 v. Redwoods Aug 9 v. Cannons

“When [Matt Dunn and Tim Muller] are telling you to give it all you got, you owe it to them, and you owe it to the rest of the team, and you owe it to yourself to go out there and do it,” Matt Brandau said postgame. Whipsnakes rally past Waterdogs: premierlacrosseleague.com/articles/top-t…
Maryland had a 22.5% win probability at this point. Hustle plays like this by @ColinSquires24 can swing momentum.
Final from Fairfield: Whipsnakes 10, Waterdogs 7
Final from Chicago: Outlaws 13, Whipsnakes 6
The Whipsnakes’ team we saw in the second half looked like a team that can run the table. Matt Brandau (4G, 1A) TJ Malone (1G, 4A) Brad Smith (2G, 1T) Aidan Carroll (1G) Colin Heacock (1G) Matt Rambo (1A)

The Whipsnakes have now taken control of 3rd place in the Eastern Conference, displacing the Boston Cannons to 4th.
Matt Brandau has five points (4G, 1A) against his former Waterdogs team. Three straight TJ Malone -> Brandau goals.
"It's embarrassing when we dont bring it, and we control that," Matt Dunn's halftime message to the Whipsnakes.
Ajax Zappitello has three caused turnovers, a groundball, and has contained Michael Sowers after his explosive first quarter.
That was a completely different Whipsnakes squad than we saw in the first half. That was a team with confidence in themselves. All tied up going into the fourth quarter in a must-win game for Maryland.
TJ Malone has tied the game at 6-6. Say what you want about this Whipsnakes squad, but they are a really streaky group.
Brad Smith has single-handedly put the Whipsnakes back in this game — three scoring points in 15 seconds..
TJ Malone to Brad Smith for a two-pointer to give the Whipsnakes some life. Smith's 4th two-point goal of the season cuts the Waterdogs' lead in half.
The Whipsnakes just played their best defense all night on that power play.
One thing that won't show up on the stat sheet is the effort Colin Squires is bringing every single play. He has looked like he's running at 110% speed through the first two quarters. You can tell how much he wants this win.
