🚨🚨🚨🌎🌎🌎 WE ARE EATING THE EARTH I write a book once a decade, and I am so proud of this one. It’s about our food, our land, and our climate. Now available for pre-order! I can’t wait for you to read it. Thank you so much for supporting it. amazon.com/We-Are-Eating-…
People get mad when I say eat less beef, other people get mad when I say eat more chicken instead. But perfect usually isn’t on the menu, and better is better than worse. #WeAreEatingTheEarth
It’s good! (also features an official blurb by matt yglesias that is a little more eloquent)
For my money, @MikeGrunwald's We Are Eating the Earth is the most eye-opening, most convincing, and most-likely-to-spark controversy book of the year. You should all read it ! amazon.com/We-Are-Eating-…

I spent yesterday @MuirWoodsNPS, an awesome reminder of what we’ll lose if we keep eating more of the earth. More acres for agriculture - and that’s what low-yield organic farming requires - means fewer acres of trees.

An excellent (if mildly cantankerous) scientist is going to jail for stealing "trade secrets" from an environmental group. Oh no he might help a different group save the Everglades! Florida is such a mess. wlrn.org/environment/20…
I cut beef out of my diet; it’s not as good for the earth as going vegan, but beef is so much worse than other meats that it’s about as good as going vegetarian. And even if you still eat some beef, eating less is the best way to reduce your impact.
There’s no need to use euphemisms: Trump is unilaterally suspending the nation’s pollution laws, because he supports polluters: apnews.com/article/trump-…
Happy 150th! One of my favorite Florida facts is that the author of the 1887 book Oranges & Alligators: Sketches of South Florida never got farther south than Orlando. Florida was America’s last frontier, it’s still a new idea, and we’re still making such a mess of it.
There's a plaque at Lake Eola that says Orlando was named for a soldier who, by most accounts, didn't exist. Welcome to Fantasyland. In honor of the City Beautiful's 150th birthday next weekend, here's 150 years of O-Town history condensed into one column. orlandosentinel.com/2025/07/17/hap…
The coolest thing about book tour has been getting the best energy and climate journalists fired up about food and climate. @Sammy_Roth is definitely one of the best, and it was fun hearing his excitement about diving into a totally new part of the problem.
On today's Boiling Point podcast, my guest is @MikeGrunwald, author of "We Are Eating the Earth: The Race to Fix Our Food System and Save Our Climate." Come for the horrifying fun facts about beef, stay for the solutions that might also make you queasy: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cow…
Steve Bannon was a fun and thoughtful interviewer but the comments….wow. Chemtrails, solar flares, WEF conspiracies. And I don’t think I look much like Woody Allen so I’m going to assume that one guy just meant Jew.
MICHAEL GRUNWALD: The “organic-only” fantasy sounds nice until you run out of food. Sri Lanka banned fertilizers and pesticides. The result? Riots, shortages, and a collapsed government. It's not that simple. @MikeGrunwald
