In 2000 Amtrak proposed a bunch of new expansions, although they didn't pan out. These ones in the Midwest are VERY interesting, and we should manifest them into reality 🔥🔥 (Except that Des Moines one, it needs to be routed via Mendota)

TIL, Eire Lackawanna & Conrail ran a commuter service between Cleveland & Youngstown until 1977. Imagine living in Niles, Warren, & other towns outside Cleveland & having a true alternative to driving?! It doesn't have to be a culture war, it's about convenience & efficiency!

It's pretty sad that the most common sense, bare bones transit project has to face this level of political scrutiny. Transit should be something we just fund regularly, not a culture war
The proposed NLX project would be another Minnesota boondoggle. Fortunately, my colleagues on the House Appropriations Committee agreed, and now the taxpayer will be spared from paying for such a fiscally irresponsible project. startribune.com/republican-bil…
