Anointing of the Sick was practiced in the early church? Here is an excerpt from my new book, THE BIBLE AND THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK (@BakerAcademic) on Origen's use of James 5--with a snippet from Polycarp. (The book is available for order here: a.co/d/9KbJ0nH)

Now the book is in the 36k range on Amazon! Again, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude! I never thought a book on Anointing of the Sick would do this well. THANK YOU to all who are buying this! @BakerAcademic

Don't be so vain that you think this post is about you.
This is sage counsel. Here are some important related reminders: 1. The world does not need your hot take. 2. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. 3. If you're worried others will wonder about you for not weighing in, stop. You're not that important.
Talking religion is like drinking. Some can handle a lot and stay kind. Others take one sip and turn into a jerk. If every time you talk theology you get mean, maybe the solution’s the same as with booze: stop. It might just not be for you.
Sad to learn of the passing of Hulk Hogan. Rest in peace, brother!
I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the interest in my new book. I never thought a work on an obscure sacrament would crack 50k in Amazon sales rankings! Thank you! amzn.to/4nVQI7k

I never thought a book on Anointing of the Sick would get below 100k on Amazon’s sales rankings! Thanks to all who have purchased it! amzn.to/4f0m8Fy

I agree with this. Teaching kids how to write well is vitally important for civilization.
Yes. Writing is not a second thing that happens after thinking. The act of writing is an act of thinking. Writing *is* thinking. Students, academics, and anyone else who outsources their writing to LLMs will find their screens full of words and their minds emptied of thought.
Look at how emotional these normally austere hierarchs are. And how brotherly, across Catholic-Orthodox divisions.
I am traveling this month on family vacation but also trying to finish my CBA paper. Does anyone perhaps have digital access to this that they may be able to share with me? Specifically, pieces by @AnnetteYReed, Cohen, Hezser, and Schwartz. amazon.com/Envisioning-Ju…
How can you not admire the faith of Palestinian Christians? Lord, have mercy!
A video from inside the Holy Family Church in Gaza shows the Israeli airstrikes around the church this month—more than five times, Israeli strikes hit near the church. But today, the strike hit the church directly.
All roads lead to Nebraska.
This map, by placing the Mediterranean area inside the US, gives us a helpful perspective on the extent of Paul’s travels, as well as the size of the Roman Empire. On his second missionary journey, for instance, Paul traveled the equivalent of going from South Carolina, up…
