I recently had a discussion in which someone said characters in tragedies (and some horror) don't experience growth/change. My response was that they do, but it's in a negative direction instead of the expected positive direction. What do you all think?

Thinking about writing a novel with two prologues, in first person, with tons of semicolons and em dashes, using only "said" as a dialogue tag. What am I missing?

"Em" dashes are not an indication of AI writing. Can we stop with that? My books have them, and they were published years ago. You know what else AI writing has? Adverbs. Semicolons. Prologues. Lots of stuff it isn't trendy to like. Are those indications, too? Come on, y'all. 🤦‍♀️

Food for thought: I understand and agree with most arguments against using AI in book world (so please don't assume otherwise). Genuine question, though: Where do you draw the line at Photoshop and similar software? Isn't that also AI, to a degree? Filters, for example?
