Joc Pederson took live BP today for the second consecutive day today. He’ll next start a rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco. He said he checked all the final medical boxes yesterday and is now focused on the actual baseball aspect of his ramp up.
Lefty lineup.
Rangers lineup for July 23, 2025 vs. the Athletics
The Rangers have activated Jon Gray and designated Luke Jackson for assignment.
They’ve also signed three UDFA’s in INF Carter Garate (Oregon), C Jack Collins (Cal Poly) and LHP Lou Marinaro (St. John’s).
The Rangers also announced agreements with seven other draftees: • TWP Josh Owens (3rd round) • SS Jack Wheeler (6th) • OF Paxton Kling (7th) • RHP Evan Siary (8th) • LHP Owen Proksch (9th) • RHP Jacob Johnson (12th) • SS Luke Hanson (15th) • C Noah Franklin (17th)
The Rangers have signed second-round pick AJ Russell. Russell, a RHP from Tennessee, is the org’s No. 7 prospect per Baseball America.
They don’t have any other catchers on the 40-man roster so it would require a move. Cooper Johnson, in Round Rock, is the best bet.
Who would they call up, if he has to go on the IL?
The latest on Kyle Higashioka’s hamstring. dallasnews.com/sports/rangers…
Jacob deGrom switched gloves after a May 26 start in which he didn't strike anyone out. He switched *back* to his old glove in his last start and used it again tonight. "I figured I would stop moving my ... or doing whatever I was doing to tell people what was coming," he said.
Patrick Corbin will start for the Rangers tomorrow vs. the A’s.
Kyle Higashioka exited the game with a tight hamstring. The Rangers will get him looked at tomorrow.
The Rangers are two games over .500 for the first time since May 18.
FINAL — Rangers 6, Athletics 2. The story: Jacob deGrom was Jacob deGrom. Adolis Garcia, Marcus Semien and Corey Seager have each homered. They've won three straight series. Things are looking ... up? as the deadline nears. Record: 52-50
The trade deadline is nine days away. Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young has seen signs to suggest this team is worth buying for. That doesn’t mean plans are finalized. “We can’t go backwards at this point.” dallasnews.com/sports/rangers…
Adolis Garcia, Marcus Semien and Corey Seager have each hit a home run tonight. That's a fantastic recipe for success. The Rangers now lead 6-1 in the seventh.
Insurance salesman Josh Smith and his gang of Singles Hitting Teammates give the Rangers a 3-1 lead. Josh Jung and Kyle Higashioka both singled in front of Smith, who chopped a soft-hit dribbler down the left field line to score a run.
Jacob deGrom’s final line: 6 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 9 K, 1 BB. He now has a 2.28 ERA. He elicited 28 swings and misses tonight and only let three batters reach after the leadoff home run. He is so, so good.
