At a time when the world feels divided, our Sister City bond with Eldoret, Kenya—25 years strong—reminds us of the power of connection, culture, and respect. This week, I was honored to welcome Governor Dr. Bii Chelilim and Eldoret delegates. Asante sana—and here’s to more.

Today, I proclaimed it Black Business Week in Minneapolis — marking our 5th year celebrating and supporting Black-owned businesses. From pop-ups to workshops to new partnerships, this week-long event is about investing in Black economic success and lifting up local entrepreneurs!

Our Behavioral Crisis Response team is redefining public safety—responding to thousands of mental health calls with culturally specific care, no sirens, and no police. Not every crisis needs an officer, and MPLS is leading the way with proven alternatives. kstp.com/kstp-news/top-…
The Stone Arch Bridge is officially open! Whether you’re walking, running, or biking, there’s no place more emblematic of Minneapolis. Thanks to Gov. Walz, MnDOT, the Park Board, our City Public Works team, and everyone else who hand a hand in making it happen.

Our new mobile medical unit is hitting the streets soon—bringing health care, vaccinations, and support directly into underserved neighborhoods. It’s part of our work to meet people where they are, respond to the opioid crisis, and make Minneapolis safer. spokesman-recorder.com/2025/07/17/min…
Public media, like MPR and TPT, give us the facts. Their journalists tell our stories, inform our communities, keep us safe in emergencies, and give a voice to people who often go unheard. Cutting this is reckless. We should be funding public media, not gutting it.

Our Downtown Action Plan keeps Minneapolis moving forward, sometimes literally! Come down to Nicollet Mall on July 31 to our first-ever Big Honking Truck Parade, where we’ll show off our City fleet from fire trucks to snow plows and everything in between. bringmethenews.com/minnesota-life…
Milwaukee Avenue is 50! What was once slated for demolition is now one of the most beloved, walkable streets in MPLS. Today, I proclaimed it “Milwaukee Avenue Historic District Day,” honoring the neighbors who fought to perserve it & those who continue to make it feel like home.
