The Braves signed fourth-rounder Briggs McKenzie for $2,997,500. Slot value for the 127th pick is $588,900. A $2,408,600 over slot deal. Solid three-pitch mix with developing FB velocity, great feel to spin and solid control to tie it all together.
Owen Murphy day complete. 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K. Faced the minimum 9 hitters Angel Carmona day still going but he hit his first homer already today. After a hit in his pro debut yesterday. Also P Gensi Angeles having another solid game, 17 Y/O came in 2.12 ERA, 0.65 WHIP
Today in FCL Owen Murphy makes his in-game return from surgery. First game since 5/14/24. Doesn’t appear any draftees are active yet though Today in the DSL Angel Carmona playing his 2nd game of season(1st yesterday). Third biggest signing by Braves in Jan behind Tornes/Raudy

Braves most recent UDFA Jaylen Paden. Former 2 way guy at Georgia Southern, became full time pitcher at Georgia Tech. Some health stuff and command questions, but healthy this year and intriguing UDFA option
Jaylen Paden is one of the best stories in all of college baseball. Once a T-150 draft prospect, he missed over 700+ days with injuries, and this year he is showing why he was such a highly touted draft guy pre-injury. His heater is elite with a -3.3 VAA in the top half of the…

The Atlanta Braves have signed all 21 selections from the 2025 First-Year Player Draft.
Braves signed another talented UDFA in prep catcher Jonathan Matos. Good frame, athletic for the position, big arm, strong defender with good pop times, seeing some pop in the bat. Something for Braves PD to work with for sure
Just factored in where I’d put new Braves draftees on the top prospect list. 4 of the new draftees Top 30, 3 just miss Here’s where I have them ranked 8-Tate Southisene 9-Briggs McKenzie 12-Alex Lodise 25-Conor Essenburg 32-Dixon Williams 34-Cody Miller 40-Landon Beidelschies
Big fan of Braves UDFA class. Carrero probably the headliner. Merritt has upside. Brooks, Eldridge, Melendez have something to work with as arms. Mudler a catcher with some floor to him. UDFA’s so there are things to work on obviously, but rivals the best UDFA classes in league
Uncommitted (class of 2025) Yamvier Carrero had some loud barrels during the @east_coast_pro Showcase for Atlanta Braves. 🔥
Recent Braves UDFA signing Yamvier Carrero
Yamvier Raúl Carrero Rios (‘25, PR) adjusts well to the offspeed and rips it to CF for a 2-run single. Lived on the barrel all weekend, finishing w/ 5 hits total. #MLKEast @pg_int1 #Houston commit
A bigger UDFA signing by the Braves recently in is Puerto Rican HS SS Yamvier Carrero. Projectable and could stick at short, though the hit tool is raw at this point

A full breakdown on Braves draft pick Briggs McKenzie ncaabaseball.substack.com/p/scouting-atl…
With Essenburg signed the yet to come McKenzie bonus is clearing up to around $3M. The Braves could have signed pretty much any prep player they wanted after the 2nd round with that $ (maybe not Bauer)….but McKenzie was the guy they wanted and chose over any/spreading it out
5th-rder Conor Essenburg signs w/@Braves for $1,197,500 (slot 157 = $438,600). Illinois prep OF/LHP, Braves announced as hitter, HR off 99-mph Jack Bauer fastball in April, stands out w/bat speed & power potential. A few clubs preferred him on mound. Kentucky recruit. @MLBDraft
