BREAKING: Wisconsin Democratic Gov. Tony Evers announces he will not seek reelection in 2026
#NEW: MD House Majority Leader Moon (D) says he is prepared to introduce legislation to redraw Maryland’s congressional map as a response to redistricting efforts in other states.
I'm introducing legislation to redraw Maryland congressional districts if any other state cheats & draws new maps outside of the census period. Seems Trump has convinced Texas, Missouri & others, and FWIW TX did it years ago & got away with it because nobody responded. #mdga26
FWIW, I've spoken to a couple of Republican operatives today — including one quite involved in Missouri's legislative process — who remain skeptical that a congressional remap will occur. Pressure seems to be coming from the White House, with less enthusiasm in Jefferson City.

Here’s the congressional breakdown – Ras Baraka won two districts and Josh Gottheimer + Steve Sweeney each won one, but only Sherrill was able to truly break out of her home territory into a statewide coalition.

A spokesman for Rep. Mike Ezell’s campaign confirmed to me that the Republican plans to run for reelection in 2026. Rep. Bennie Thompson, 77, said in May that he would run for an 18th term. Thompson has been top Democrat on the Homeland Security Committee since 2005.
All four of Mississippi’s congressmen are expected to easily secure reelection in 2026. Here's @MattKleinOnline with the overview: cookpolitical.com/analysis/house…
Is last decade's OH congressional map the most effective gerrymander of all time? It's certainly up there. Not only did it maintain its 12R-4D advantage throughout the entire decade, but Donald Trump would actually have managed to flip the 13th District in 2024 for a 13-3 split:

ICYMI: Democratic anger lingers over Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont's decision to veto an affordable housing bill last week. State Rep. Josh Elliott seemed to float the prospect of a primary challenge to the governor, though it would be an uphill climb. ctinsider.com/politics/artic…
A surprising decision that leaves Rep. Randy Feenstra as the current frontrunner for the #IAGov GOP nomination. The winner of that primary will face a formidable Democratic opponent in state Auditor Rob Sand.
Republican Attorney General Brenna Bird will not run for Iowa governor in 2026 desmoinesregister.com/story/news/pol…
Big news for Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado as Rep. Ritchie Torres effectively takes his name out of the mix for #NYGov. Delgado’s path in a primary against Gov. Kathy Hochul was borderline nonexistent with Torres in the race. A one-on-one Hochul vs. Delgado showdown now likely.
Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) says on MSNBC he’s “unlikely” to run for #NYGOV now:
Speaking of weird NYC intersections, I recently learned that somehow W 125th St intersects with W 129th St?
Somebody tell NYC that there are limits to how high street numbers ought to be
