Well @mattdinniman I owe you big time. I've so many barriers & struggles at the moment but your words, through Carl, are absolutely carrying me. It helps that you have me laughing like hell through it all too. We're oceans apart but your words absolutely are a bridge Thank you
New education theory: How about, instead of trying to find the next commercial or power-grab buzz phrase or concept, we relook at what makes a good educational experience for a child at each stage of development. This is what the Curriculum and Assessment review should be doing.
Some scarce items from my extensive Charles Causley collection. Charles gave me the two books of poems by his pupils (which show a pronounced Causley influence), each one dedicated and inscribed. @causleytrust @PNovelistGale
I've been gifted a beautiful French lift-the-flap book from Clotilde Perrin of 'Inside the Villains' fame. A lovely story of neighbourly disputes and resolutions. Clotilde always gives us so much to see and enjoy

Meet Anita, possibly the world’s laziest ant — but also the most curious. In @MoeshaKellaway @books_rocket #AntLife, we follow our unlikely explorer as she wriggles out of work and sets off in search of the perfect job (and maybe herself, too). For fans of the super #SlugLife!

It’s time we got our country reading again. We’re joining with @Literacy_Trust to make 2026 our national year of reading, to foster a love of learning, to develop skills, to encourage us all to put down our phones and pick up a book.
"Reading for pleasure opens doors to children and young people that would otherwise remain closed" - @JDLiteracyTrust We can't wait to get started on the #NationalYearOfReading⤵️

Our recent research shows fewer children are reading and writing for pleasure. Our Summer of Literacy packs give teachers free, fun ideas to turn that around, starting in class and continuing at home 📚✏️. Download ⤵️ literacytrust.org.uk/resources/summ…
The art in this manga is nuts. Utterly beautiful. A super story too for Y5+ Highly recommend after reading the first 4 books @smerchant13 @RuddickRichard @Bedemeister @MrBakerKS2

Just one tiny observation about the new writing curriculum: this is rubbish 'All writing is ultimately made up of sentences' A lot of poetry, playwriting, scriptwriting, ads, social media posts, dialogue in novels etc is not 'ulimately made up of sentences'.
📚 “Somewhere you’ll be safe. Somewhere you’ll get the answers you want so badly. A magical library…” Sangu Mandanna ’s #VanyaandtheWildHunt is a new fantasy that fuses British folklore with Indian mythology ✨ Out now from @MacmillanKidsUK !

Only 1 in 3 young people (32.7%) enjoy reading – the lowest in 20 years. Reading is proven to boost learning, wellbeing, confidence & empathy. It’s time to turn the page.
Big news! 2026 has officially been announced as the National Year of Reading by @bphillipsonMP. We’re proud to join @educationgovuk to lead this national campaign to get the UK reading again. #NationalYearOfReading2026 nationalyearofreading.org.uk

To those who need to hear this: 'You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting' - Mary Oliver Look after yourself.
'The very fact that adults object to certain books in a particular community often reflects the effects of their own well-defined roles and attitudes constituted by the values of that community.'

Late to the Geomancer series but having travelled miles with Ysolda in In the Shadow of the Wolf Queen, I’m in it for the long run now. Wow! A brilliant fantasy adventure celebrating the natural world. Out now for 9+. Thanks @HachetteKids 🐺 checkemoutbooks.wordpress.com/2025/06/29/in-…
