Post offices aren't just buildings; they're vital community hubs. Every year, we hand out over €7 billion in cash, sustaining local businesses, jobs, and supporting rural economies. Keeping post offices thriving means keeping communities alive.
We must decide if we value keeping our post offices open. There is a cost involved, €15m pa. Is it value for money? Absolutely. Can post offices deliver more services? Certainly. The question is whether Government is ready to invest not just in post offices, but in communities.
