If #AI matters hugely for productivity and ec gains, it matters who is "ready" to adopt it. That's the point of our new @BrookingsInst AI readiness mapping. See here: brookings.edu/articles/mappi… @mdaepp @ScottJcounts @MSFTIssues @nvidianewsroom @TimBartik
ICYMI: check out this new @BrookingsMetro analysis led by @MarkMuro1 mapping the #AI economy. Among others he finds the main AI enterprise is concentrated in a limited number of metro areas, but numerous other regions are home to meaningful AI activity brookings.edu/articles/mappi…
Re the #AI divide: Here's our new mapping of regional AI readiness leap brookings.edu/articles/mappi… And here's @MSFTResearch on uneven ChatGPT use microsoft.com/en-us/research… Will need to address this. @BrookingsInst @mdaepp @scottjcounts @EconBerger @byHeatherLong @AnnieLowrey

Here are four takeaways from our new @BrookingsInst benchmarking of U.S. regions' #AI readiness: --A rapidly growing but still-emerging market --Extreme concentration --Signs of geographic diffusion --Persistent opportunity gaps brookings.edu/articles/mappi…
And...@TheGrandFarm is also a sidebar in our new @BrookingsMetro @BrookingsInst report on variations in regional #AI readiness @MSFTIssues @Taya04 brookings.edu/articles/mappi…
We couldn’t have asked for a better Field Day at the Innovation Campus 🌾 Huge thanks to @AnheuserBusch, our partners, @pivotbio, @KWS_Group, @ADMAgriculture, and all of our startups and attendees who joined us. Ag moves forward when we show up and stay curious!
Take note of this map when evaluating yesterday’s AI summit in Pittsburgh. AI as a jobs creator will never be as concentrated in any region as steel once was in Pittsburgh.
Coastal superstars dominate #AI readiness map but new Sun Belt, Heartland presence emerging. New mapping from @BrookingsInst @BrookingsMetro brookings.edu/articles/mappi… @paulkrugman @conorsen @TheStalwart @JHWeissmann @SteveLohr @kevinroose @SteveCase

We're glad to see how the @BrookingsInst new report offers a clear framework for understanding how U.S. metro areas are preparing for AI. Talent, innovation, and adoption are key to building inclusive AI ecosystems.
There's lots of talk about the race to "win" the AI-adoption race with China. However, there's much less about the question of how #AI readiness is unfolding (and varying) at home, among metros. Here's our new discussion: brookings.edu/articles/mappi… @AlecMacGillis @LettieriDC

We don't talk enough about how a handful of midsize Midwestern winner cities have become magnets for younger people from rapidly shrinking cities and towns in their region. Classic example is Columbus, drawing in tens of thousands from the rest of Ohio. Such a stark contrast with…
Slowly be surely, we approach hive cities. The heartland will soon be covered in vast tracts of solar panels and completely automated farms
Really enjoyed talking to @lilyjamali @BBC on our #AI readiness analysis and addressing the U.S. #AI divide. Nation has "superstars" and growers but also many places adrift that could lose ground view.email.bbc.com/?qs=94eaa08f70… @BrookingsMetro
excellent--I'm already looking forward to it Kyle
Exciting personal news: I've just signed a book contract with Princeton University Press. My book will be about China's industrial policy, from EVs and batteries to AI and robotics. It's aimed at both general readers and researchers, in the style of my High Capacity newsletter.
Yes. Writing is not a second thing that happens after thinking. The act of writing is an act of thinking. Writing *is* thinking. Students, academics, and anyone else who outsources their writing to LLMs will find their screens full of words and their minds emptied of thought.
About #AI divides Here our discussion from last week: brookings.edu/articles/mappi… And here's @MSFTResearch on #AI hotspots, deserts: microsoft.com/en-us/research… We'll need to address this! @Econberger @MSFTIssues @NvidiaNewsroom @kevinroose @drturnerlee @BrookingsInst

really interesting to see how much geography plays into this - seems like infrastructure and where talent clusters make all the difference in who's ready.
New report lauds Pittsburgh region for AI talent, innovation @FontainePGH reviews a bunch of positive discussion of the region's #AI cluster triblive.com/news/pennsylva… @InnovatePGH @bruce_katz
The great truth-teller of regional divergence--@rodriguez_pose--correctly sees an important part of our new #AI geography report. Happily there is significant dispersion underway as well as hyper-concentration. @sj_manning @Richard_Florida @gbenga_ajilore @EJDionne
#AI is the miracle crop that only select fields can grow. @MarkMuro1 & @shriyared find that two Bay cities bag 13 % of #US AI hiring. They classify America into superstars and also-rans, revealing stark adoption gaps. Investment beyond the coasts is needed brookings.edu/articles/mappi…
In a new @BrookingsInst report, @MarkMuro1 & Shriya Methkupally map the unfolding AI revolution and assess how the nation and local economies are positioned to create, apply, and harness the technology. Read more: brookings.edu/articles/mappi…
Yeah the AI map is a different map with the future of job density on it hard to project...thanks for taking a look @chrisbriem
