When treating patients with CIDP, pain should not be used as an outcome measure. I often encounter patients whose therapy has been escalated due to worsening pain, which never helps. Instead, strength, disability (INCAT), and gait are the most reliable surrogate markers in CIDP.

There is no better diagnostic criteria for GBS than the Asbury and Cornblath criteria from 1990. Although it has faced criticism for lacking mandatory exclusion criteria, this flexibility is one of its strengths. GBS can be tricky and is ultimately a syndrome, not a disease.
