Great essay by @acoyne in the G&M today on why supply management is so dumb, and why it gets so much attention compared to all the other dumb ways we protect incumbent businesses from competition in this country. theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…
Pay attention @MarkJCarney and @AnitaAnandMP Since the IDF exposed this yesterday @UNRWA suddenly found the vehicles and drivers to move more than 100 aid trucks. In one day. Perhaps you should hire a fact checker before you issue your ridiculous statements.
I went to the Gazan side of the Kerem Shalom border crossing today to see for myself the nearly 1,000 trucks’ worth of aid waiting to be picked up by the UN. Stay tuned 📰
Note that this person never criticizes Hamas. Ever. No demand that they release the hostages, no suggestion that they surrender, not a hint that they bear any responsibility for all of this. It’s almost like she supports them.
Another strongly worded finger wagging with no concrete action. Shocking to see our prime minister acknowledge Israel’s violation of international law but still not announce sanctions, a real two-way arms embargo, recognition of a Palestinian state….ANY actual action.
Under 18, they’ll learn. Over 54, their kids will.
Fun fact: In 2017, Canada's Liberals passed Bill C-6, lowering the citizenship language test age from 14-64 to 18-54. No English/French proficiency needed for those under 18 or over 54. How do they expect us build a shared identity for Canada if we can’t communicate?
"The allegations made in this case, even if not determined to have been criminal, were very disturbing & the behaviour at issue was unacceptable," the NHL statement said. "While we conduct that analysis…the players…are ineligible to play in the league." cbc.ca/news/canada/lo…
This Ottawa career politician — part of the « elite » he claims to despise, in fact — is trying very, very hard to look like a rural Albertan.
Hop on my new set of wheels to tour Ryley, Alberta.
So people under the age of 18 generally do not have sufficient "capacity for moral judgment" and cannot be tried as adults or serve adult sentences when they commit serious crimes, but letting them vote is a priority?
Lowering Canada's voting age to 16 is her 'top parliamentary priority,' senator says nationalpost.com/news/canada/lo…
This was the obvious decision based on the evidence presented in court. It doesn’t mean the men didn’t say and do a bunch of degenerate things, but that, of course, is not criminal
All five men in the Hockey Canada sexual assault trial have been found not guilty
Freezing bank accounts of individual Canadians was over-reach, as the Justice concluded. Enforcing pre-existing Canadian law wasn't, as he also ruled. If someone supports convoy lawlessness in the streets, they should also support pro-Hamas lawlessness in the streets.
I agree that consistency is important, but it’s a bit like apples and oranges at this point. Members of the convoy *have* been punished, have they not? Frozen bank accounts, being repeatedly arrested, denied bail etc. While I agree they overstayed their welcome by 2 1/2 weeks,…
Yes.
A $10k deposit, forfeited if a candidate fails to secure 2% vote share would stop a lot of stupidity on ballots.
Worried. very, very worried.
Both ministers Joly and Champagne have mentioned the Avro Arrow in some shape or form over the last few weeks I don’t know if I should be excited or worried
Bear with me here, but what if the IDF is telling the truth?
IDF says there are no signs of starvation in Gaza based on all intelligence assessments. The military accuses Hamxs of spreading fake images, including AI-generated content and photos of starving children from Yemen, to manipulate global perception.
On peut couper toutes les subventions.
Les pétrolières et gazières au 🇨🇦 sont subventionnées 20X plus que les milieux artistiques canadiens et québécois mis ensemble.
I am not a legal expert. I have no idea whether the Crown often asks for ridiculously severe sentences. But to those who claim this is political vendetta, you need to explain why a provincial crown prosecutor would be politicizing the justice system for the federal Liberals.
This is the intellectual level of the anti-vax crowd.
Anyone wanna help her out here?
In the "what the Crown asks for is not what they get" department, last February, the Crown asked for 10 years of prison for Pat King and the final sentence was three months house arrest and 100 hours of community service. Maybe the improvised legal experts need to calm down.
This chart has been circulating. Regardless of its implications, one technical point is in order. In order for it to be properly interpreted, it needs to be put on a logarithmic scale. Otherwise, the same % increase in taxes will appear to be larger than the other categories.
Is it lost on these people that it’s actually Hamas that’s yet again rejected the latest ceasefire proposal that would have allowed for a surge in humanitarian aid? Does their contempt for the Jewish state blind them to the facts on the ground?
🇨🇦 Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand, and ministers of 26 industrialised nations condemn Israel’s shooting over 800 Palestinians seeking aid & countless more being starved and demand that Israel allow UN & other humanitarian groups to distribute aid to civilians in Gaza. 1/3
An excellent thread that everyone commenting on this supposed politically-motivated travesty of justice should read.
A few points to make in response to all this news and commentary. @LichTamara and @ChrisBarber1975 have not yet been sentenced. Ms. Lich says the Crown is seeking a long custodial sentence, but we have yet to see what the court will decide. It will likely be shorter. 1/
BREAKING: The mediators (Qatar and the US) were so outraged by Hamas’ response to the hostage deal ceasefire proposal that they didn’t even share it with Israel and just demanded that Hamas come back with a new one.
