Mailboat'n
@MailboatN
I skipper a mailboat and I find adventure in delivering mail to various San Juan Islands in Washington State. -All pictures are mine.-
After a float down the river, dinner is ready. Blue cheese burgers, cowboy burgers, dogs, marinated then grilled tofu, beans, and flat top potatoes. Now clean up...

A trip to the old Silver Queen Mine. The boys struck it rich, panning up a variety of fossils, crystals, and minerals. Then, after a hard day at the mine. It was time to relax and get some chair time with mom.

“ My wonderful husband of 12 years, Bill, told me that he wanted to marry me. Bill has been living with dementia for 9 years. For the past year or so Bill has been unaware of our relationship, and no longer knows my name. So when Bill told me that he, ‘ Really likes me and wanted…
Camp is more or less set up. The grandkids are in a tent a few sites over. Let the fun begin!

Mailboat'n on the fringes of a Gale. All is good, though. What's a little lumpy water. I'll be out on a land based adventure with the grandkids for the next few days. Enjoy your weekend! Choppy seas, then Milk Thistle. The roots are edible and reportably taste like artichoke.

I think that the mailboat'n gods are flustered with me. Today, my Yukon XL was loaded front to back with heavy freight, add a -2.62 tide, and more fog. I'm an old guy... Car and dock ramp, fog and clouds, geese, and a fried egg jellyfish (Phacellophora camtschatica).

Busy afternoon, I just got home. It was a nice day for mailboat'n. The Island Transporter and the WSF Chelan. Low tide, a GBH (great blue heron) looking for a snack, and my private rainbow.

Mondays are always heavy freight days. Today, I was mailboat'n in the fog as well. Well, mostly in the fog anyway... Today's pictures are all about the fog.

This is where orcas truly belong — free in the ocean, not in captivity or at SeaWorld. So beautiful to see.
A Special Birthday Gift His reaction was priceless! It really struck me in the heart ❤️❤️❤️ #birthday #family #love #heart
"My plane landed in Oklahoma City last night.” “When we stopped at the terminal, the pilot announced that he would like to inform us that we were flying one of our fallen soldiers, Brooke Newton, home to her family. He asked that we remain on the plane until our soldier was…
Friday mailboat'n. With the current salmon, crab, and shrimp openers, it was a busy day on the water. Gulls and the first time I've seen seagull nests. Not sure, but I think this is mom and pup, I figure the pup was just born. More gunkholing, and the water taxi Paraclete.

One of the problems living in the PNW is that many houses do not have AC. Ours does not. Poor Tilly was miserable today. It's been 80-90° in the house all day. Decided to go on a drive-about and cool things down a bit. While on the drive, we ran across this field of wildflowers.

Another load of heavy freight made for a sticky day of mailboat'n. Almost to the marina, marina traffic, here in the PNW we call this gunkholing and the final pix is called, Oh Sh*t... I don't know what happened, but I don't think that it was under power when it went aground.

It was a warm day for mailboat'n. Lots of freight, sunny skies and warm breezes. I had a number of pictures to choose from today. But I decided that it's been a while since I shared a set of Mt Baker shots. That said, enjoy!

Another day of minus tides and lots of heavy freight. Mailboat'n is a lot of work, no respect for the old guy! Heading out this morning, a current seam, it looks like this seal got too close to some orca choppers, and then pile perch. They were hiding under the mailboat.
