A stunning 1930s Chinese chromolithograph advertisement poster for Double Crane cigarettes with metallic finish.

This iconic photo was taken by the Jacob H Schiff Chinese Expedition during 1901-1904. Because laughing in photos was still very uncommon at that time, it became especially popular & can be found on several vintage ads in #China such as below for the Italian Spano Marsala Wine.
This guy is cracking me up. Some American anthropologists came to China in 1901, said "show us how you eat rice!" and my man really delivered.
The Coca-Cola border: 1949 photo by Harrison Forman of British colonial officers at the Sha Tau Kok border marker between Hong Kong & Mainland China. There are no visible signs marking each side - only a capitalist Coca-Cola ad on the Hong Kong side subtly signaling the divide.
