Władysław Sikorski (1881-1943)

June-July 1944 Montefano, Italy

"Just as this issue of 'Parada' was going to press, we received news of the tragic death of Commander-in-Chief Gen. W. Sikorski and his companions. Gen. Sikorski died in a plane crash while on official duty, falling at his post as a soldier in the service of his country & nation.

"National mourning after the death of General Sikorski The President ordered two weeks of mourning. Flags on buildings occupied by Polish institutions are flying at half-mast."

June 1943 General Anders and General Sikorski in the Middle East. Just a few weeks later, General Sikorski perished.
