The NHS 10-Year Plan and the Future of General Practice. A Thread….
Hey @santanderukhelp Does anyone actually man your phones? Yesterday called 1725 - on hold past 6pm no answer This morning TWICE after 2 × 10min holds the music stops but no one speaks and then cuts the call I need to speak to someone asap
Requesting "Sick Note" is often the "Last Straw" Most people genuinely do not want to GP off sick, they do so because they can't access the HELP they need early enough. We will miss the boat if we focus on sick note & not what drives the need for sick note.

One of the main reasons UK has anemic growth, we have stopped encouraging people to take outsized risks for for outsized rewards. Industrial revolution uplifted the living standards across the entire country was led by entrepreneurs
If we punish people for creating outsized value, fewer will try, and society loses. We can look to China, India, and Vietnam. When I was born, poverty rates were 88%, 60%, and 80%. Each country embraced market reforms and let their versions of capitalism take root. Inequality…

I understand what Sheel and Garry are trying to say here--and I too agree that we should have more innovators / builders in this country. That said, the call for "no more billionaires" has much more to do with wealth inequality than suppressing innovators.

Cognitive overload is killing good decision-making in general practice. Patients leave confused. GPs leave drained. Here’s what cognitive psychology tells us - and how to apply it in the consulting room.
To delivery efficiency & productivity organisations need experts & expert tools NHS & Govt want nhs to be more productive yet does the complete opposite to it can be achieved 🤷🏾♂️
Genuinely shocked by the dilution of standards around the running of Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs). Let's take a look! 1. UTCs used to be GP-delivered services. Then GP-led and MDT-delivered. Now NO mandate for ANY doctors to be involved in leadership of the service. 1/
Hi Neil @neilorpen can you follow me back, want to discuss something
This 10-Year Plan is becoming ONE BIG convoluted MESS! Will it help improve access to GPs? NO Will it help staff deliver better continuity? NO Will it help retain senior GPs? NO Will it reduce pressures on A&E? NO Will it improve patient experience? NO
Government plans new primary care contracts ift.tt/83aopus
10-Year Plan, that will take 10-Years to implement. It will fail to deliver on what patients need today. I am sorry, this is totally uninspiring. Scrap it!

Huh they control the best silicon for running models in the M series chips For training they will have equivalence in a year or two as models satisfice for every day tasks OpenAI doesn’t control the hardware or the silicon
The impact of ADHD on young children laid bare in this report. Children are the "Future of Britain", we must redouble our efforts to address this crisis. @RDaSH_CAMHS @TobyLewis_NHS
An independent taskforce tackling ADHD care has published its interim report today. Dr Adrian James, NHS England's medical director for mental health and neurodiversity said: 'We know more needs to be done to improve and welcome the findings.' ➡️ england.nhs.uk/publication/re…
MPs(elected) want LORDS (unelected) to Scrutinise the bill they are elected to Scrutinise. Yet, MPs also want to abolish HoL Politics is confusing 😕
A furious Labour peer told PoliticsHome they had spoken to MPs who were unhappy with the detail in the bill, but were intending to vote it through... and leave it up to the Lords to carry out the thorough scrutiny later on politicshome.com/news/article/e…
Wow. How to make friends and influence people… Dr Doyle just wants us to get on with it without considering resources and funding. Not sure this attitude will get many GPs on side. (From Pulse this week)
Contractor income: 2000 - avg GP Partner pay £100k 2024 - I believe it was £160k Nominally you’d think great it’s up £60k in 25 years Change the denominator 2000 - avg Gp partner pay = 1 avg house or 500oz gold 2024 - avg GP Partner pay = ~0.5 avg house or 110oz gold…
BMA need to issue clear guidance, if practices request ARRS funding to employ GPs PCN should pass on the funding to the Practice. We could not recruit GP because our proposal to recruit was voted down by other practices! @doctor_katie @DrSteveTaylor @msteggy @wesstreeting
It’s incredible that we have GPs unable to find work - due to inadequate funding for NHS gen practice (we get 6% of NHS budget but see 90% of the daily NHS contacts each day). @BMA_GP stands ready with solutions @wesstreeting @DHSCgovuk for the Aug deadline. #endGPunemployment

Another policy announcement without any thinking! GPs are already unemployed or facing unemployment! Where will these 1000s of new GPs go? I can't access funding to employ GPs. @DrSteveTaylor @axelheitmueller @DrSelvarajah @dave_dlt @DustynSaint
