There have been 21 gray whale deaths in the San Francisco Bay Area this year, marking the highest number of gray whale fatalities since 2000. Scientists are investigating to determine the cause of deaths although 8 of the whales is reported to have been killed by vessel strikes.

July 14 2025 - a day dedicated to protecting orcas and their home, the ocean. It's also a day to speak out for the dozens of orcas held captive around the world, languishing in unnatural conditions in marine parks and entertainment facilities.

Incredible news! Two females orcas from Iberia (south-western Europe) have been sighted off the southwestern tip of Cornwall, UK. The pair were spotted near Bishop Rock, one of the females was identified as C002/ Freyja, from the Iberian orca catalogue. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Bottlenose dolphin Delilah at Gulfarium, Florida, has died. She was at the facility for 40 years, wild caught from the Gulf of Mexico. Her life taken from family. Unable to exhibit many of her natural behaviours in confinement over the years, simply to entertain the public.
World Day for Captive Dolphins takes place on 4th July every year to remember the 3,000+ dolphins confined in concrete tanks/sea pens-leading unnatural lives and deprived of everything they need to thrive. Marine Connection will continue raising awareness about this cruelty.
