Ludwig Cancer
@Ludwig_Cancer
We fund cutting-edge scientific research across multiple Branches and Centers to better understand cancer and eliminate the suffering caused by the disease.
The May 2025 edition of the Ludwig Link is here! Catch up on the latest from Ludwig researchers, including awards, new leadership and a gallery of beautiful (and fascinating) micrographs. Check it out online here bit.ly/3Fo6LJR or download the PDF bit.ly/3Sq6Uze

Researchers led by Ludwig @unil’s Ping-Chih Ho, Xiaoyun Li & Sofie Hedlund Møller report that cancer cells secrete fats that prompt fibroblasts to flip macrophages into a pro-cancer state. Disrupting this process impairs growth in melanoma tumors in mice. bit.ly/3U5WYfj

Congrats to Ludwig @Princeton's Vanha Nhat Pham, who has been named the first Ludwig Cancer Research-Jane Coffin Childs Fellow. Pham plans to explore the roles molecular components of cell membranes known as phospholipids play in cellular physiology. bit.ly/463HJdQ

Ludwig @MIT’s @AmyWisdom8 sat down with us at the Center’s 2025 retreat to discusses her research on coaxing the immune system to target a deadly brain cancer and how collaboration has been essential to her studies. Check it out here: youtu.be/EyW9Fz4gG9c
At the Ludwig @MIT 2025 retreat, @fjsanchezrivera took us through his lab’s scientific focus and his journey in cancer research, including his years in the Ludwig MIT community as, initially, a trainee and now a principal investigator. youtu.be/BvMZ8ETu6sM
A team from UNIGE, CHUV and Ludwig Institute has discovered the unsuspected anti-tumour potential of a specific type of immune cell. @OncoUNILCHUV @Ludwig_Cancer #UNIGE #cancer #research ow.ly/whBj50WibeN
Ludwig @MIT Co-director Tyler Jacks spoke with us at the Center’s 2025 retreat about his career and how interdisciplinary collaboration fuels cancer research at Ludwig MIT. Check it out here: youtu.be/dHJgSbvCc5Y #CancerResearch #TeamScience
