Very sad to hear of the death of Lord Norman Tebbit at a towering political figure, one of the most influential of the last 50 years. When he suffered at the hands of the IRA Brighton bomb, he put the needs of his more injured wife first, in carmine for her. A giant lost to us.

….However, many of the children most in need to early educational intervention and support, come from families which can be a little disengaged with formal education, government agencies&even the community. I’m not convinced Government has a strategy to ensure they also benefit.
I was able to question the Government, in the Lords, on their statement on early educational intervention, to try and give d ensure every child has a good start. It’s a generally welcome statement, with fine intentions, and reasonable focus on issues such as reading…..
