The @LibDems are the antidote to Reform. Our statement from City Hall on the violence in Epping and reaction from Nigel Farage ⬇️
Co-ran a brilliant @ALDC training today on building strong, community-led campaigns Labour are letting people down – nationally & locally 🥀 Lib Dems are stepping up: rooted in communities, driven by progressive values & focused on real action. That’s how we win big 🔶🔶🔶
Another day, another episode of the worst soap opera — Southwark Labour in chaos again But this isn’t entertainment. While they feud, residents face: 💰 Soaring living costs 🚨 Rising crime 📉 Failing services Southwark deserves serious leadership — not this mess.
EXCLUSIVE: Trade union heads claim James McAsh was ‘blocked’ from becoming Southwark Labour leader due to his left-wing politics Calling on councillors to "do everything in your power to ensure the assault on local party democracy is over-turned" southwarknews.co.uk/area/southwark…
Following in my father’s footsteps. Overwhelmed with emotion to receive the OBE medal yesterday from The Princess Royal at Windsor Castle. Truly honoured to be recognised for work with young people & interfaith relations as the founder of the Naz Legacy Foundation.
I fully agree I am concerned that this announcement has been timed to coincide with the @LondonAssembly summer recess, preventing us from challenging this decision until September I have therefore written to you requesting a special meeting is called to discuss this issue
Yesterday the @LondonAssembly Police & Crime Committee sat for the last time until September Perhaps a good time for @MayorofLondon’s Deputy Mayor for Police & Crime @KayaJunction to share her boss’s plan to AXE 50% of London’s police counters She Didn’t #WellFancyThat
The treatment of Crystal Palace FC by UEFA has been completely disgraceful. They must review their decision. Fans cannot be punished for back room errors. Read more👇 theguardian.com/football/2025/…
Chaos at South London council as Labour sees 3 leaders in a week mylondon.news/news/south-lon…
We are thrilled Notting Hill Carnival will go ahead this year, but we remain concerned about the future 🔽 @LDCRE1 @TheVoiceNews
This year's event had been in jeopardy after a review found "critical public safety concerns". bbc.in/3U2JPTX
Children with special needs & disabilities and their carers need to be at the heart of any reforms the Government proposes to SEND, not Treasury cost-cutting. My & @edwardjdavey letter to the PM + Education Secretary 👇🏽
Today @MuniraWilson and I have written to the Prime Minister, calling on him to ensure that reform of the SEND system has children at its heart. After years of Conservative neglect, the SEND system needs fundamental change. But change must be a step forwards not backwards. 🧵1/
Manchester has one. Liverpool has one. It's past time London had a tourism tax too.
Tonight we're putting forward a motion calling for Southwark to implement a tourist tax - just £2 a night at hotels and hostels. Manchester, Liverpool and York have all done it - so why can't Southwark? We went out to see what tourists and locals thought of the idea!
Labour council leaders are now celebrating cuts to disable people. Despite the noise, most London Labour MPs voted to make cuts to the health element of Universal Credit. Only the Liberal Democrats will challenge this Government‘s harmful cuts and protect vulnerable people.
Last night I asked Southwark’s new Labour Leader to condemn brutal welfare cuts and back our call to scrap the bill. She refused – and called it “an example of the Labour Party at its best.” Only the Lib Dems are standing up for disabled people in Southwark. Watch in full:
Deeply disappointing that Merton’s Labour councillors shut down a youth-led proposal to proactively address mental health & body confidence. Young people often don't seek support themselves when they're struggling. This is a missed opportunity for early intervention.
Merton’s young people say mental health is their top priority. Supporting our motion is Labour’s chance to show they take this seriously. We want to put young people at the heart of support programmes & bring charities, schools & experts together.
Pleasure to meet constituents and campaigners to discuss the climate crisis. This isn't getting the attention it needs, and the Government must not endanger net zero through approving Heathrow expansion, and needs to put a stop to plans to pump recycled sewage into our river.
Given the appalling state of Council Housing in Southwark, it beggars belief that the Cabinet member responsible has been elected Leader
Sarah King elected new leader of #Southwark Labour – but will James McAsh challenge outcome? The Cabinet Member for Council Housing beat rival James McAsh by 27 votes to 25 southwarknews.co.uk/area/southwark…
Thanks to Ben Maguire MP & @MainesChris for coming over to Bromley Common yesterday to knock on doors and support our by-election candidate: @LauraMc16268726. We got a very positive response from residents. 🧡🗳🔶️
Lovely to join our candidate Roy Pounsford and @LondonLibDems getting the vote out in Fulham today.
