📢New paper in @PNASNews, led by my amazing student @yihanqian001 found that placing two hands at the same height (an EQUAL gesture) mitigates gender stereotypes @UChicago @UChicagoSSD @UChicagoNews pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
New paper alert! 🥳 We study intersectional stereotypes in naturalistic language. Results show the clear dominance of some groups (e.g., White+men), but near-invisibility of others. 🧐 Out today in PNAS:Nexus @PNASNews academic.oup.com/pnasnexus/arti…
Excited to present our recent findings and connect with friends at #SRCD2025!

Hello academic twitter, excited to share my first paper and our labs’ latest work with you all on the fascinating intersectionality of language, gesture, and gender stereotypes! (1/4) pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
Statements like “girls are as good as boys at math” can carry implications that boys are better. However, an “equal” gesture—two palms placed at the same height—can counteract this implication for 8- to 11-year-old children. In PNAS: ow.ly/AYSb50ULRYT
Excited to share this new paper led by my amazing student @vanessalazaro_ We asked if girls and boys from different racial backgrounds, who opt to pursue activities requiring high intelligence are equally liked. Check out this paper to find out the answer: psycnet.apa.org/record/2025-14…
