Our modern role goes beyond fighting fires. We attend many other incident types such as water rescues, RTC’s, ambulance assists and medical emergencies, as well as dealing with challenges presented by new technologies such as vehicles which use alternative fuels. #YourCouncilDay

We have a vast array of vehicles and equipment. Our Brigade Mechanics, Peter & Con, quite literally keep the show on the road by carrying out scheduled and reactive maintenance to ensure all are in working order when needed. #YourCouncilDay

Pictured today promoting our @LimerickFire Service are Rathkeale firefighters Ray Hogan and Sean O'Conaire. #YourCouncilDay #LimerickEdgeEmbrace #Limerick
Did you know the Fire Control centre for Munster is located in Limerick? MRCC mobilises 69 Fire Stations - 4 Wholetime & 65 Retained to approx. 10,000 incidents yearly. The centre is staffed on a shift system 24/7/365 to ensure constant cover. #YourCouncilDay

Outside of incident response, firefighters complete training on & off station. Our Training Dept. organises a yearly schedule of initial & refresher courses. On station training takes place to ensure firefighters & equipment are always in a state of readiness. #YourCouncilDay

We have 6 retained fire stations in Newcastle West, Rathkeale, Kilmallock, Abbeyfeale, Foynes & Cappamore with a total of 72 firefighters. They responded to 974 calls in the last 12 months. Retained FF’s carry a pager & respond to the station when a call comes in #YourCouncilDay

We have 7 Fire Stations in the Brigade - 1 Wholetime & 7 retained. Our wholetime station is in Mulgrave Street, Limerick City. It is staffed by 68 Firefighters on a shift system to ensure 24/7/365 cover. Last year crews responded to approximately 1200 incidents #YourCouncilDay

If you’re in Askeaton this Friday, call in and see our Foynes Crew at the local SuperValu as part of the annual “Your Council Day” event. Firefighters will be on hand to give fire safety advice and answer any questions you may have. #YourCouncilDay

A very happy Father’s Day to all the dads and granddads out there from all in Limerick Fire & Rescue. We hope you enjoyed your special day! While some dads may not be here anymore, we remember the impact that they had on our lives while they were. #FathersDay

Breathing Apparatus refresher season was recently completed for Firefighters. Course content included new equipment, search skills, casualty handling, hose management & post fire decontamination. Our thanks to @TipperaryFire for the use of their fantastic facilities in Clonmel.

Recent low tides allowed us the opportunity to train on our rescue paths, which are used for rescues on unstable ground Only swim in designated bathing areas this weekend & if you see something unfolding that doesn’t look right, or someone in distress, ring 112/999 straight away

🚒 This week, we had the Rathkeale Fire Station crew onsite for a Pre-Fire Planning Meeting. This visit allowed the crew to familiarise themselves with our plant layout and facilities. Fellow businesses, we'd highly recommend arranging a similar visit! #FireSafety @LimerickFire
Working smoke alarms save lives. They can’t save you if they don’t work. Test your smoke alarms today! #TestitTuesday #FireSafetyIre #STOPfire
