3am & coffee as I prepare for the last challenge of my journey. Knockfin Heights awaits! I’m hoping my navigation is spot on to see me through all of this. It’s only a short distance before I find the path to The Glutt & from there tracks & roads to Dunnet. Then it’s all done!

The remote and lonely Crask Inn? Camping for a donation? Beer? Food? I don’t mind if I do!

I’m through the mountains. What an incredible few days. All the superlatives can’t do justice to any description I can offer. Solitude on a grand scale. I loved every minute. Even the tough bits. I’m now camping above Garve, heading towards Bonar Bridge. Then north to Dunnet Head

I’m able to relax. I’m three days walking at the most from Dunnet Head. Saturday 2nd August is my finish date, so I can kick back, relax and reflect on the last three incredible months. Time for coffee.

I feared today because of the unknown. It turned out to be a day on my journey I’ll remember as a highlight. Starkness and beauty together.

It’s a good feeling knowing I walked through those far off hills to my camp tonight. Not far now to Dunnet Head. Roughly 76km left.

Today I’ve been assailed by midges. No breeze and sultry conditions allow the wee beasties to fill the air. If I stopped walking for a brief moment, I was covered in them. Thank goodness for my head net.

Shin Falls looking good after the heavy rain last night. Also, I passed the 900 mile mark today. 😊

This is me setting off from Glencalvie this morning. My pack laden with two weeks of supplies - mainly wine gums! 😂

Today was a “had to be done” kind of day. 24km of road walking with persistent rain for the last couple of hours. Now in a scrappy camp spot but warm and dry. The highlight for today was crossing the lovely Kyle of Sutherland on the Invershin railway bridge.

Hi everyone, after a couple of days resting, I head on my way again. I’ve roughly 175km to reach Dunnet Head & plan to arrive there around midday on the 2nd August. This will give me plenty of time to enjoy the last few days of my adventure. Thank you all for your kind support. 😊

A wonderful 28km walk through the mountains and glens to Glencalvie near Bonar Bridge. A couple of days off now after six days of hard walking through challenging terrain.

It was a braw beginning to what’s turning into an arduous day. Not sure how far I’ll make it today.

My camp spots were awesome. Simply can’t go wrong finding a lovely spot.

The midges and the cleggs (horse flies) were pretty challenging at times.

I enjoyed every moment of my four days walking from Cluanie through to Garve, a distance of roughly 100km. The solitude was what I loved, surrounded by such awesome grandeur. Scotland is an amazing country.

A moment of Scottish peace in a truly magical setting. Upper Glen Kingie.
