The tentacled creature in the video is based on Heaney's watercolour paintings, representing the monstrosity of humanity  and making a link to cephalopods who have delocalised brains and alternative ways of sensing the world - just like quantum systems 🐙 bit.ly/40O9ljB

For Quantum Climates (2025) at @sothebysverse Heaney uses bespoke generative quantum video editing - hand coded on an IBM qubit machine - to portray multiple possible futures for our planet at once - from polluted oceans to serene forests. Everything is possible 🌎 📷 NXT Museum

. @LibbyHeaney has a PhD in quantum computing and 20 scientific publications, which enables her to explore quantum technologies deeply and technically like few other artists. In fact, she is the first artist to work with quantum computing in 2019.

I've always admired @LibbyHeaney for her critical and creative work with emerging technologies, from AI back in 2016 to the first quantum artworks in 2019. Never following the trends, but setting them 😎 @Sothebysverse @jaclynlavy
