Regional news on BBC1 the most watched programme of the day on Friday with 2.8million tuning in at regular 6.30pm slot, equivalent on ITV1 starting 30’ earlier watched by a not too shabby 2.2m…only the soaps - Emmerdale 2.5m, Coronation Street 2.6m - attracted bigger audiences.
Entirety of BBC1 coverage of #SWEENG in Women’s European Championship - 1 hour build up, match, extra-time, penalties, nearly 3 hours in total - averaged 4.4m viewers with peak of over 7m as final penalty (& there were lots of them!) put @Lionesses thru to semi-final. @WEURO2025

Launch of new murder mystery drama #Bookish (@eagleeyedrama) starring Mark Gatiss as crime solving bookseller on ‘U & Alibi’ channel - part of UKTV stable of channels - well received by viewers with 320k tuning in for debut at 8pm. @alibi_channel
Better news for BBC, admittedly not the highest bar to clear currently, with slot winning 2.9m viewers greeting return of #GreatBritishSewingBee (@LoveProductions) at 9pm on BBC1, biggest non-news audience of the day👏 Biggest audience overall also on BBC1, 3.4m to regional news.

American trade magazine ‘Hollywood Reporter’ reports that broadcast tv fell to less than 20% of total viewing in USA for the 1st time last month with YouTube & Netflix advancing most. In the UK, (still) generally half, 56% yesterday for instance. hollywoodreporter.com/business/busin… via @thr
