It’s not every day that you get to share a story that you truly believe changes a paradigm! Today is that day for us. We hope you agree: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Cell Membranes Sustain Phospholipid Imbalance Via Cholesterol Asymmetry What's the big idea? Tweetorial below! 1/9

Really good review on novel methods for assessing membrane protein conformational landscapes and the lipid dependence thereof #lipidtime
Our latest review on GPCR-lipid interactions is out at Curr. Opin. in Struct. Biol. sciencedirect.com/science/articl… Congratulations to postdoc Dr. Greeshma Jain!

The oldest known footage of soccer being played in the US 🇺🇸 On November 13, 1921, San Francisco’s Italia Virtus club played the visiting crew from the Italian Navy cruiser RM Libia at Golden Gate Park Stadium. 🎥 @USSoccerHistory, Cineteca di Bologna
When UVA is under threat, Wahoos rise to the occasion. Join me and @Wahoos4UVA. Speak up for truth, integrity, and the University we all love. #Wahoos4UVA wahoos4uva.com/letter
Grateful to see a briefing of our new paper shared more widely always meaningful when the science resonates beyond the lab. Great collaboration with amazing scientists @HuShiqiong @sehamebrahim @BecharaKachar
“Scientists discover unknown organelle inside our cells” Each new discovery changes how we perceive pharmaceuticals and toxins impact life. Science is about accepting we only know small parts of a complex system. phys.org/news/2025-06-s…
Dear Lipid Researchers, I am not able to commit to running TLC any longer. I think it is a useful resource so I am taking applications for someone to take over. Please e-mail me if you are interested. Thanks! :-)
Been thinking about biomembranes? Wondering what next decade of research will be? Wonder no more: there's an awesome conference in Copenhagen in July!! From simulations to cells and everything in between. 5 days left to submit abstract - APPLY! biophysics.org/blog/beyond-si…

Using lipidomics, a @LeventalLab study found that unlike previously assumed, the distribution of phospholipids in a membrane is asymmetrical. This imbalance is stabilized by high levels of cholesterol, which regulates cellular cholesterol homeostasis. ow.ly/eMyn50VuejI
Things I wish more people knew about doing science in the US (thread):
Cool new method! Analyze tons of properties of all sorts of nanoparticles (vesicles, viruses, nanodiscs etc etc) with a simple confocal microscope.
New paper out💥 in @NanoLetters High throughput single particle profiler with simple confocal imaging. We used this new method to study protein-lipid interactions, drug membrane interactions and biophysics of nanoscale particles from human donors: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…
Attention students and postdocs - apply for the MBL Physiology course and come find out why so many Physiology students describe the course as life-changing!!! mbl.edu/education/adva…
Our article on GPCR fragment-based drug discovery via in situ #NMR is out at ACSChemicalBiology: pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10… Congratulations Enzo, Guillaume, @MeilerLab and others not on social media. #NMRchat
My lab at UVA is looking to hire a Postdoc to study mechanisms of DNA repair in chromatin using biochemical, biophysical, and structural biology approaches! Feel free to share with anyone you think may be interested. jobs.virginia.edu/us/en/job/R006…
I am excited to preprint my postdoc work in the @OlzmannLab! We have discovered the first lipid droplet quality control pathway with broad implications for lipid physiology and diseases associated with LD accumulation and oxidative stress! #lipidtime shorturl.at/2HqFd

🦕🦕 I’m happy this fun little book is finally out exploring how the physiology of the sauropod dino helped contribute to its dominance on earth for so long. However, I think I’ll stick to my day job 😁 🦕🦕
