SF voters passed Prop 36 for treatment-mandated felonies. Judges have an important role to play in Prop 36 to help people struggling with drugs get help. Thank you former Supervisor Bill Maher for asking judges to share how they plan to implement Prop 36. sfchronicle.com/opinion/letter…
Finding better solutions to our drug + housing crises shoud be bipartisan. CA Democrats like @mattdorsey and @MattHaneySF have been calling for recovery housing long before Trump’s #executiveorder on #housingfirst Read my op-ed: bit.ly/4lNejFV

Could it be a new day in the addiction crisis that has brought San Francisco to its knees? We need reform in California’s #housingfirst laws to ensure not just federal funding, but also state and city funding can be used for abstinence-based, recovery housing #executiveorder
I was glad to practice my Mandarin this week when the @SFDemocrats held our meeting in Chinatown! It’s been 20+ yrs since I lived in China but there’s no better city in America than S.F. to stay connected to Chinese culture & language
Thank you @SFDemocrats @NancyTungSF 4 bringing ur meeting to Chinatown. Thx @MarjanPhilhour 4 language access resolution to provide attendees w assisted translation. Thx 4 supporting @SFUnified Mandarin Immersion school. Thx @Lanier4SF 4 your words in Mandarin. These mean so much
The hearing this morning on @sfgov drug policies is a step toward making our new “recovery first” ordinance more than just aspiration @mattdorsey @DanielLurie @SF_DPH @bilalmahmood
Allowing public drug use to persist hurts everyone. Children. Business owners. AND Drug Users. Laws abound to stop this. Where’s the political courage to enforce the laws? #onlyinsf #drugfreesidewalks @bilalmahmood #prop36 @DanielLurie @SFSuperiorCourt

Competency is back in SF! Just this week: ✅ CCSF accreditation saved ✅ SFUSD avoids state control, starts financial recovery ✅ Mayor trims 1,300 City Hall jobs Thanks to the new @SFDemocrats, common sense majorities are delivering results. This is what governing looks like!
Univ. of Virginia is the latest victim of Trump's overreach of federal power with the forced resignation of Pres. Jim Ryan. In 2023, on a #UVA history tour w/ my kids, we visited the new memorial to enslaved workers and heard a more well-rounded history than guides told when I…

The @SFDemocrats are working hard to listen to the voters and promote common sense positions like drug-free recovery housing and fully funded public safety agencies with accountability
San Francisco is so back and it is because of the work that Mayor @DanielLurie and SF Democratic Party Chair @NancyTungSF are doing tirelessly every day Sanity, common sense, and prosperity is not too much to ask for. We demand it and now we are on our way to building it!
Recovery First is the official drug policy of San Francisco now. @salvationarmysf is leading the way by providing post treatment abstinence based interim housing. This is the way. @TheWayOutSF @kunalmodi @scsherrill @mattdorsey @SteveAdami @KPIXtv cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/n…
HURRAY! San Francisco passed a "Recovery First" ordinance to make long-term recovery the north star of SF drug policies. Thanks to @mattdorsey @DanielLurie & the recovery community for your leadership @SteveAdami @CeddieHussle @Twolfrecovery
Glad to support @mattdorsey and the Recovery First Ordinance as a way to signal the changes that are coming to San Francisco. Big step in the right direction toward getting more people off the streets & into recovery.
🙏 Thank you for your support, Drug-Free Sidewalks San Francisco — @DrugFreeSidewlk! (6/23)

Our DA @BrookeJenkinsSF marched against fentanyl deaths with members of the recovery community, kids from United Playaz, @DrugFreeSidewlk. Conditions are a little better but we have a LONG way to go. Everyone must lobby together to end overdoses & keep the streets clean.…
“I have to lean on public health and other partners to really do that front-end work while we more so focus on the drug dealers because we can be more effective in that space.” @SFDAOffice @mattdorsey @UP4LIFE @DrugFreeSidewlk nbcbayarea.com/news/local/san…
San Francisco is on the verge of passing stronger drug policies, but we can’t do it without your help. On May 6 the Board of Supervisors must vote to make the cessation of illegal drugs the goal of SF drug policies. Email @sfbos here: bit.ly/4cJ1b0G
The national organization opposing my “Recovery First” ordinance praises drug dealers as “harm reductionists” and demands that they be included at “every step of the policymaking process.” So, I’m today urging my colleagues to reject the Drug Policy Alliance’s advocacy. (1/2)
Every color of the rainbow in foil, pipes and straws at 3pm on the sidewalk across from the 16th & Mission Bart station. The new Dept. of Public Health policy to stop passing out these supplies in public is a good first step - on a long road toward drug-free sidewalks.
Justin Cartwright wanted help! Went to HealthRight 360 to detox but instead OD’d and then w/in days was moved to a facility with less oversight - where he OD’d again & died. SF needs drug-free detox centers & drug-free sidewalks bit.ly/4iPi109
With open air drug use like this on our sidewalks, it is no wonder S.F. is the most childless major city in America. It's time to end public drug use and make S.F. more welcoming for families. @DrugFreeSidewlk @SteveAdami @mattdorsey
We did an expirement today, we had the kids & nieghbors come outside on the sidewalk & hang out, draw, skate. It was pretty awkward with maybe 59 drug addicts lurking back n forth. But it actually felt really good. Can families reclaim the sidewalks? yes, addicts fear kids.
I’m encouraged by Mayor Lurie's order to enact changes to San Francisco’s approach to drugs & homelessness. With the right policies AND execution, SF can enable recovery for everyone, from people addicted to drugs to small businesses. @DanielLurie @kunalmodi @DrugFreeSidewlk
Drug-Free Sidewalks welcomes Mayor Lurie’s commitment to tackling the fentanyl crisis w/comprehensive reforms. We support Recover 1st solutions & applaud the Mayor’s focus on accountability. @mattdorsey @DanielLurie sfchronicle.com/sf/article/lur…
