Post Doctoral Seed Developmental Biologist at Rothamsted Research (UK). Interests: Increasing yields, developmental biology, agricultural applications
Proud to have been involved last week in the @appg_agscience's 'Agriscience Week in Westminster' event to showcase the gene-editing agricultural research being undertaken at @Rothamsted and interact with policy makers on this important topic! #SupportingAgriscience
This week's @appg_agscience week in Parliament showcased UK taxpayer-funded research and innovation and included the launch of a new innovation agenda for UK agriculture➡️ ow.ly/FuCE50URawB @JohnInnesCentre @roslininstitute @Rothamsted @LIATLincoln #SupportingAgriscience
Chuffed to bits to be representing @Rothamsted with my science for #BritishScienceWeek. There is a little poster in the field about spore trapping! It even comes with a video if you have a Qr scanner! Good luck finding it as part of your normal walk as it is very #COVIDsafe
Don't forget our Cafe Scientifique talk tonight (7.30pm) at the @TheSilverCup with Professor Tony Cass from @imperialcollege talking about microneedle sensors in health and illness
Cafe Scientifique is back after the summer break! We're really looking forward to having Professor Tony Cass of @imperialcollege speak about his work developing the next generation of medical diagnostic tools. Hope to see you @TheSilverCup on 30th September from 19:30!
I was thrilled to represent @Rothamsted & present a short talk yesterday on my PhD research in the Hormone Driven Plant Morphogenesis session at #ICAR2025 in Ghent! 🇧🇪 Thanks to the organisers for the opportunity to speak and to @AABiologists & @GenSocUK for the travel grants! 🌱

Today our #GeneEdited camelina was sown at @Rothamsted! Using CRISPR-Cas9, we have generated larger seeds by silencing genes in seed coat development. Given the recent secondary legislation for the #PrecisionBreeding Act, we are excited to see how our lines develop in the field!

Proud to have participated in @RoyalSocBio 'Voice of The Future 2025' event last month as the @AABiologists rep. I asked MPs how ECRs can get involved in policy decisions on genome edited crops - go to 59:35 to hear my question & the panel's response! youtu.be/RhSqH8UnC3Y?si…
It was great to attend the @GenSocUK_Plants 'Seed Plant Research Meeting' in Durham this week. I really enjoyed the range of talks, networking, & presenting our research on genome editing in camelina. Thank you to @GenSocUK for awarding me a travel grant to support my attendance!

It was great to be involved in the @FarmersWeekly Transition event last week to speak to farmers, growers and industry stakeholders about the precision breeding (gene editing) agricultural research happening at @Rothamsted!
🌎 Held in partnership with @Rothamsted, our upcoming one-day Transition event will share insights on how precision breeding can deliver real benefits for growers and the environment. DETAILS: ow.ly/Ljg750VaU8o
Grateful to have had the opportunity to present my OSR gene editing research at the UK Brassica Research Community (UK-BRC) meeting yesterday (held at @Rothamsted). It was a great chance to network with farmers & researchers, & discover the latest findings in the Brassica world!

How are scientists creating a MAGIC oilseed rape population? Not with a wand and top hat- @LangdonMollie explains 📽️ With @JohnInnesCentre, we are breeding thousands of OSR plants to better understand their genetics – that’s MAGIC (Multi-Parent Advanced Generation Inter-Cross).
Fantastic discussion and networking so far at the #VoYS Standing up for Science workshop today held at the Wellcome Collection! @voiceofyoungsci @senseaboutsci
Looking forward to attending the virtual 'Plant Science for Climate Emergency' conference over the next two days 🌱🌍 #PlantResearch21
I wrote a thing about my work and filmed a thing about the importance of wasps in pest control for @Rothamsted! Check out my gormless mug chatting about wasps and Alien3 here - youtu.be/mL-j3Zgodv4 !
#AgriFoodBecause My PhD is focused on increasing seed yields. I work with the model plant Arabidopsis, and crops such as Brassica (pictured) and rice to try and increase the number of seeds or the size of seeds produced by these plants.

Happy new year from the Cafe Sci team! To kick off 2020 we have a two @Rothamsted speakers for our event on 27th January. Visit our Eventbrite page eventbrite.co.uk/e/cafe-scienti… to find out more. Hope to see you there!
Watched the harvesting of our GM camelina field trial last week - now to analyse the results!
Harvest home! Always inspiring to see our GM field trial safely completed for another year. This was our biggest camelina trial yet, with gene-edited lines and GM+GE stacks. It's still a thrill to see GM in the field, and great that more of us @Rothamsted get to do that now.
