Absolutely, my sibling caught that immediately and they're a casual fan. Because he's a runt he has everything to prove here, which is why he's going after the ultimate apex predator. This reaction to being called prey feels like it may be a breaking point for him in the story.
Badass line aside, I like to think it's their way to show that Dek is a bit hardheaded and in over his head with some self-esteem issues and maybe a little sensitive, or am I looking way too much into this line?
