A terrific essay, among other great ones to discover in the latest issue of Literary Imagination / @li_alscw, the flagship journal of the Association of Literary Scholars, Critics, and Writers (alscw.org), published by @JHUPress !
Great review-essay by Scott Crider of Steven Monte's book THE SECRET ARCHITECTURE OF SHAKESPEARE'S SONNETS. Required reading for serious Shakespeareans.

Why is it impossible to proofread when you can still change things? It’s only after I print it out, make a pdf or send the email that I notice the mistakes (or post on here); as if infinite choice dulls our critical abilities; only by making a choice can you really see the world

I so loved revisiting John Hawkes's shimmering *SECOND SKIN* in Literary Imagination: muse.jhu.edu/pub/1/article/…
