LGBT+ Labour
@LGBTLabour
The Labour Campaign for LGBT+ Rights. Campaigning for equality since 1975. Affiliated to @UKLabour.
Today is 20 years since @UKLabour repealed Section 28 in England and Wales. Our patron, @angelaeagle, reflects on the progress made in the fight for LGBT+ rights, and the long journey still ahead.
Many congratulations to our patron Lord Chris Smith on his election as Chancellor of the University of Cambridge. We wish him all the best in his new role!
Lord Chris Smith has been elected as the new Chancellor of the University of Cambridge. Lord Smith said “To be elected as Chancellor of the University I love is a huge honour. I’m thrilled." Read more about Lord Smith and the Chancellor election 👉 cam.ac.uk/news/new-chanc…
Thank you to Minister for Equalities @NiaGriffithMP for attending our brunch social today ☕️🥪 We welcomed recommitments on introducing a trans-inclusive ban on conversion practices as soon as possible, and to see through the bill to make LGBT+ hate crime an aggravated offence.

Great to pop into @LGBTLabour Brunch before I head back down to celebrate @croydonpride with @CroydonLabour this afternoon. Lovely to catch up with some of my favourite people in this movement ❤️🩷💚💙💜🩵🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Friends and constituents struggled with the injustice of the LGBT+ military ban for years. Now it is only right the government fulfils its promise to compensate LGBT+ military personnel who were wrongly dismissed.
Delighted that the government will make LGBT+ hate crime an aggravated offence. Thank you to all our members and patrons for tirelessly campaigning on this. A Labour government delivering for LGBT+ people.
I'm delighted the government has accepted my amendment to make hate crimes against LGBT+ and disabled people aggravated offences, and will now table an amendment in the House of Lords to make it happen. Here's a bit of my speech on why this change is so important:
Thank you to our patron @RachelTaylorMP for highlighting some of the serious issues with @EHRC’s interim update on single sex spaces. We will continue to push for significant changes in the guidance being developed.
1/ Today’s @CommonsWEC session with the @EHRC will not have satisfied trans people that the EHRC understands their concerns, let alone wants to address them. It’s astonishing in this answer that the Chair said trans people have no reason to be worried and haven’t lost rights. 🧵
Brilliant to hear from @DannyBeales and @livbailey on the importance of LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace, at the Westminster launch of @openforbusiness' City Ratings 2025. Thank you @iNHouseComms for hosting us!

Brilliant turnout at our campaign session with @LambethLabour and @helenhayes_ in Herne Hill & Loughborough Junction today. Vote for @UKLabour’s Stephen Clark on 1st May! 🗳️🌹

My trans constituents are human beings — and like every human being, they deserve safety, respect, and dignity. The recent Supreme Court ruling is complex, and we’ll need time to understand its implications fully. But what’s clear to me is this: we must support our trans…
We held a great phonebank last night at Labour HQ and online for Dawn Wilkinson, who's standing this May in Warwickshire. Best of luck to all of our members running in the local elections this year!
