NEW: today's drought update shows no change locally... but statewide, exceptional drought (worst drought classification) dropped from ~4% to ~0.5%. This is largely due to the consistent monsoonal rain in far West Texas / upper Rio Grande. #TXWX

Some of the damage I saw in Ingram yesterday. I can’t stop thinking about this piece of climbing wall from what was likely a children’s playground, 20ft+ *above the river, lodged into a tree. There were still clothes & debris scattered all over the riverbank. #texasfloods

RADAR 4:55 a.m. - A few light sprinkles out there now (and one random thunderstorm in Hays Co earlier this morning). Not too much concern over this but don't be surprised if you see a few raindrops on the windshield.

A very unusual July temperature trend so far this month.

BREAKING: today's drought update now pulls Gillespie & Blanco County out of drought conditions. A moderate drought (1 out 4) remains for parts of Travis, Hays & Caldwell County. #Austin #ATX #TXWX

I checked in on our local aquifers. For Travis & Hays Co, the aquifers of interest are the Barton Springs segment of the Edwards Aquifer and Trinity Aquifer. Although the 3-7" of rain in the recharge zone helps, it's not enough to close the gap on the +20" deficit.
