◽️ Guaranteed money asks not met ◽️ Becoming a defensive captain ◽️ Passing along his skills to Shemar Stewart Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson went on the record with me today to discuss his contract negotiations with Cincinnati: nytimes.com/athletic/65085…
Genuinely confused where the disconnect between the Bengals and Trey Hendrickson occurred from when Mike Brown spoke with optimism about a deal with Trey 24 hours ago, to then Trey being so upset at their offer he and his wife left town?
More on the Trey Hendrickson contract dispute from @DMRussini

Guaranteed money + the length were always going to be the two sticking points in this negotiation. Hard to believe on July 22 they are this far off still.
I’m told the key issue in the #Bengals-Trey Hendrickson negotiations has been the length of the commitment and the guarantees tied to a potential new deal. Both sides remain stuck — the Bengals want to stick to their structure, Hendrickson wants something that reflects his value.…
The Bengals typically don’t much speak on contract negotiations and did yesterday so that’s why Mike Brown expressing optimism about Trey Hendrickson’s deal getting done to then turn into a day later the star DE not reporting for camp is very interesting
More intel on what’s holding up the Bengals and Trey Hendrickson from getting a deal done The answer: Guaranteed money
This is an issue revolving around guaranteed money; the Bengals have been willing to offer only one year of it while other top pass rushers - Maxx Crosby, Myles Garrett, TJ Watt - have gotten three.
Interesting tidbit from @RapSheet
Long-term extension talks between the #Bengals and star Trey Hendrickson broke down over guaranteed money before camp… and Hendrickson has now indicated he left the state. He just posted this on Instagram.
Now that we know Trey Hendrickson won’t report today and Shemar Stewart didn’t report over the weekend (neither are in Cincinnati), the Bengals will begin camp without two players they are very much counting on this season. Another camp with contract distractions.
There you have it. Trey Hendrickson not reporting for Bengals camp today after the team publicly shared optimism about a deal getting done soon
NFL sack leader Trey Hendrickson, in search of a new contract for the better part of two off-seasons, will not be reporting to training camp today with the rest of the Bengals, he told ESPN. All along, Hendrickson has said he would not play under his current contract and he is…
Trey Hendrickson posted that he’s in Florida this morning on training camp report date in Cincinnati a day after Bengals owner Mike Brown said he felt like the team was in a good spot with him on a new deal We shall see where this goes

“It's been a long negotiation. Trey Hendrickson is a fine player. He's a good guy. We want him here. Dealing with him is sometimes not so easy, and that's alright. He's got the right to argue his case.” Mike Brown on Trey Hendrickson: cincinnati.com/story/sports/n…
#Bengals owner Mike Brown on the language the team is trying to put in Shemar Stewart’s contract and why they are doing it:
Zac Taylor says BJ Hill will be limited to start camp mostly out of precaution
When asked about the new language the team is trying to add to Shemar's contract that hasn't been in previous Bengals first-round picks, Duke Tobin said the Bengals have the right to evolve
