Today is Memorial Day, a holiday to honor Americans who have died in military service. LSS & KU are closed along with most government offices.

Did you get an IRS notice in the mail? If you paid a tax balance online and got a notice from the IRS that you still owe tax, contact LSS before you make another payment to avoid making a duplicate payment - [email protected].

Lawrence Police announced a DUI Saturation Patrol will take place on April 20th. LPD hopes to encourage community members to designate a sober driver. The ACLU of Kansas has noted that the odor of marijuana provides sufficient probable cause for police to search your vehicle.

If you missed the tax-filing deadline, the IRS encourages you to file now to avoid a bigger bill. While there is no penalty for filing late if a refund is due, anyone who did not file and owes tax should file ASAP and pay as much as possible to reduce penalties and interest.

It's April 15th, that means today is the filing deadline for individual returns! If you haven't filed your returns, make sure you do that today or submit an extension request. We have two more workshop sessions this afternoon, workshop schedule posted at kutaxworkshops.as.me.
