"There are a lot of positives to take away." Everyone's luck eventually runs out in Las Vegas. That was the case for OKC, which suffered a Summer League semifinals loss to Charlotte. But the Thunder can still count its chips with pride. oklahoman.com/story/sports/n…
Final: Charlotte 109, OKC 80 Erik Reynolds II: 16 points Branden Carlson: 12 points and 7 boards Malevy Leons: 10 points and 2 boards Brooks Barnhizer: 10 points and 3 boards Chris Youngblood: 8 points and 5 boards That's it for OKC's Summer League run.
Kon Knueppel will sub out of the game and go into the tunnel. He's bleeding a bit after a Thunder player fell on his head while diving for a loose ball.
Chris Youngblood has drained back-to-back 3-pointers. He now has eight points, five rebounds and three assists. Still a long way for OKC to go. It trails 76-50 with 3:15 left in the third quarter.
That right hand is bothering Brooks Barnhizer, who'll now sub out of the game and get it checked out. Charlotte is up 66-38 with 6:25 left i the third quarter.
Halftime: Charlotte 52, OKC 33 Branden Carlson: 8 points and 4 boards Brooks Barnhizer: 6 points, 3 boards and 1 steal Jazian Gortman: 6 points and 1 assist Malevy Leons: 6 points and 1 rebound Chris Youngblood: 2 points, 4 boards and 3 assists
OKC launches a 10-0 run, but Kon Knueppel snaps it with a contested 3-pointer over Brooks Barnhizer. Tough shot. Charlotte is up 50-33 with just under a minute left until halftime.
Charlotte is daring Brooks Barnhizer to shoot from deep, and he hasn't been able to connect on five tries. As great as the Northwestern alum has been this summer, improving that three-ball is definitely a priority.
Charlotte has outscored OKC 16-5 in the second quarter, and it has a 39-21 lead at the 4:42 mark.
Challenge is unsuccessful for OKC, which has been called for a clear path foul on Branden Carlson. Damion Baugh then goes 1 for 2 at the line, and Charlotte now has a 32-17 lead with 8:06 left in the first quarter.
End of first quarter: Charlotte 23, OKC 16 Branden Carlson: 5 points and 3 boards Malevy Leons: 4 points Chris Youngblood: 2 points, 3 boards and 2 assists
Tough shooting so far for OKC, which is 5 for 17 (1 for 9 from deep). Definitely missing its playmakers, Topic and Mitchell. Still, it only trails 18-14 with 1:42 left in the first quarter.
Branden Carlson drills the stepback 3-pointer. He continues to impress in Summer League after missing OKC's first five games due to a sprained ankle. Carlson has five points, but Charlotte has a 13-10 lead with 5:50 left in the first quarter.
