The first time President Obama met with his US Attorneys, he told us, “I appointed you but you don’t serve me. You serve the American people. And I expect you to act with independence & integrity.” None of us ever forgot that.
Trump has a rewrite of history planned when the House reconvenes—in his favor, of course. Read my newsletter, Civil Discourse (you can subscribe for free) to stay informed. We're responsible for civics education in our communities in this moment! joycevance.substack.com/p/rewriting-hi…

CNN: Two senior NOAA officials were just placed on leave. Both led ‘Sharpiegate’ inquiry. Donald Trump’s revenge tour has officially re-entered the “let-me-draw-hurricanes-with-a-Sharpie” phase. No grudge too small. No marker too thick.
There's a banner flying over the federal courthouse in Tallahassee — where Trump's Deputy AG is meeting with Ghislaine Maxwell — that reads, "Trump and Bondi are protecting predators".
Hmmm…
The day before FBI gave Trump his Mar a Lago documents, Pam Bondi ordered Kash Patel to find out why the FBI NY Field Office now had "thousands of pages" of Epstein docs, after FBI assured her she had the full set. Bondi ordered a "comprehensive report" in two weeks. Where is it?

A few months ago I noticed something unusual: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is increasingly outsourcing big cases to private lawyers — even though his office has 700+ attorneys in-house, with several specialized divisions. So we dug in...
What has Habba actually done so far, other than indicting a member of Congress after being forced to dismiss an indictment against Newark’s Mayor? Habba said she’d use the office to turn New Jersey red and she seems to be doing her best to deliver. That’s not Justice.
Trump's DOJ just cleared the way for Alina Habba to remain in her role as the top federal prosecutor in New Jersey. Habba's tenure as interim U.S. attorney is set to expire today, but Trump and Bondi have maneuvered to make Habba the *acting* U.S. attorney – allowing her to lead…
When it comes to Epstein, the grand jury documents aren’t the ones that people seeking the truth should be interested in. Prosecutors always say, “Follow the money.” That’s as true here as in any other case, open.substack.com/pub/joycevance…

in true crime documentaries people frequently express surprise that an individual who (it turns out) has been a sadistic serial killer would have lied to them--"To me? Not possible!" so too Ghislaine Maxwell who has been convicted of sexually abusing underaged girls &…
Trump could give Ghislaine Maxwell a pardon on his last day in office, in exchange for favorable testimony now (SCOTUS has already said he can’t be prosecuted for it). She knows he’s her only chance for release. That means any “new” testimony she offers is inherently unreliable…

Lots of people‘s names end up in an investigative file. It doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve done anything wrong. That makes it interesting that Trump wont agree to release the files after saying he would during the campaign.
Exclusive: The Justice Department told President Trump in May that his name is among many in the Epstein files on.wsj.com/4mcTIKV
1/If we’re discussing who’s playing politics w/the office of the NJ US Attorney, it was Habba who talked about using the office to turn NJ “red.” Judges have legal authority to put their pick in place if POTUS fails to confirm a replacement before an interim US Atty’s term ends.
The district judges in NJ just proved this was never about law—it was about politics. They forced out President Trump’s pick, @USAttyHabba, then installed her deputy, colluding with the NJ Senators along the way. It won’t work. Pursuant to the President’s authority, we have…
