I have an opinion or two on this ever so often “audiences vs critics vs filmmakers rift,” and I'm flirting with the idea of writing an essay.
What a way to start my week! Thank you for this food, my leader.
In November 2022, while campaigning in Delta State, the then APC Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu, now the President, berated the other Presidential Candidate (Peter Obi), he was ashamed to call his name, saying "Na statistics we go chop all I want is to put food on the table…

As a first time viewer of Egyptian television, I was very impressed with Catalog and I wrote a review for @afrocritik where I also pointed out a few things Nollywood could learn. Read here: afrocritik.com/waleed-el-half…
“Catalog is an invitation to reconsider the division of emotional labour within families, especially in societies where fathers are excused from caregiving simply because they pay the bills.” @JosieJp3 reviews the Egyptian Netflix series, “Catalog”⬇️ afrocritik.com/waleed-el-half…
Took a break from talking about film to write this @afrocritik essay where I examine why African men are finally embracing skincare. S/O to @TheDreamjunkie_ and @Ez_Moritz for speaking to me. Read here: afrocritik.com/why-african-me…

Ịdịkwa very stupid.
If BAT had taken over from General Abdulsalami Abubakar in 1999, with what he is currently doing, our economy would have been equal to America's economy by now.
Read my review of Burna Boy's new album which I think is sonically impressive but weighed down by his focus on haters and his status as Odogwu and Kabiyesi of Afrobeats. Enjoy.
A love song to weed, a warning to haters, a cry for legacy? Burna Boy’s No Sign of Weakness isn’t just an album, it’s a statement. From Nollywood references to soul samples, he blends genres and emotions like never before. But behind the beats, something’s shifting. Why does…
