Happy Pioneer Day! And don’t forget, it was the Saints of God who built the West, forged as a refuge and a Zion. We bear the responsibility of pushing it along!
Thanks be to God for the glorious example of our forefathers the pioneers, who sacrificed their homes, possessions, and not infrequently their lives, to carve from the mountain soil a Zion to worship the Lord in holiness and righteousness. Let us defend their legacy always.

If we were a serious country, we would ban anyone even tenuously connected with China from working in sensitive fields and execute Chinese spies like this man for treason.
It’s a long read, but this is a WILD press release from @USAttyEssayli office re: the prosecution of a dual US/Chinese citizen in SoCal who stole trade secret technology developed for use by the U.S. military to detect nuclear missile launches, transferring 3,600+ files to USBs.
Immigration concerns are not unique to the U.S. Mexicans are very unhappy that Americans in their capital city are driving up housing prices, using dollars, and speaking English, and they want them to go home. My latest at @amconmag theamericanconservative.com/mexicans-tell-…
The eternal cry of the Girondin, perpetually surprised and appalled to discover that radicals treat the rules of procedure as weapons of the occasion, rather than sacred commitments
You had a couple hundred people - we don’t know how many, because nothing was being counted - who just took over the endorsement process for a bunch of races, in 30 minutes, and jammed them through at 9:15 PM on a Saturday. Hard to imagine a process that feels less democratic.
This is an extremely anodyne observation that comes not from BAP but from Leo Strauss
One of BAP's great throwaway lines was, "Hobbes was the prophet of the bourgeois man dominated by the fear of death." And in an instant, you understand the tensions and motivations of the time period. You're not going to get that anywhere else.
The slang use of the word 'roasted' to mean "sharply criticized" is much older than I had anticipated; I recently stumbled across it in a letter written in 1709 describing an English member of Parliament making a speech attacking John Churchill Lord Marlborough
When Social Security passed in 1935, only half of 21-year-olds lived to collect benefits. Now, more than 3/4ths will, and they will live much longer after retirement. The gov't cannot be a machine to milk the young for the benefit of the old. Children must care for their parents
My father in law has worked construction his whole life, concrete and safety inspection mostly. Became a heat casualty at work last year, fell out and had to get a pacemaker put in. They laid him off as soon as he got out of the hospital, and he spent a few months looking for…
This should be the biggest scandal of the 21st century and yet the entire right wing is babbling about Epstein right now Simply infuriating
“Biden did not individually approve each name for the categorical pardons…Rather than ask Biden to keep signing revised versions, his staff waited and then ran the final version thru the autopen, which they saw as…routine” nytimes.com/2025/07/13/us/…
In hindsight it's really funny that some people were trying to make "Dark Biden" a thing when it's obvious to everyone now that he couldn't even tie his own shoes at the time

That the right is learning to do this is probably one of the most important developments of Trump II. It may be too much to hope that they will learn to do patronage effectively, but dismantling subversive opposing patronage networks is a good start.

Ovidio Guzmán, son of El Chapo, pleads guilty to drug trafficking in Chicago. He's now officially a cooperator and can give evidence and testimony against other traffickers or political protectors - in return for a reduced sentence. We don't know yet, who the US will use him for.
‘Law professor who doesn’t recognize one of the most famous Latin phrases in history’ is a pretty good representation of the state of the institutions
Always in our hearts, forever.
This exchange is a perfect distillation of the modern university's problem. The professors aren't educated enough to know they aren't educated. But they think they are far superior to those who are.

A petty and disingenuous attack on Mike Lee. The anonymous sources cited by the article don't even provide evidence for its main thesis. It is a smear by insinuation.
NEW: Mike Lee’s online persona — spreading conspiracy theories, mocking assassination victims — is causing worry in Salt Lake City. On Lee, his church, and the difficulties of “peacemaking” in our current political era:
Gay marriage has a hidden cost and children are paying the price It's time for the Supreme Court to reverse Obergefell vs. Hodges. 🧵
