The US announces a "massive" trade deal with Japan that will impose 15% tariffs on Japanese products. It comes just a few hours before the EU-Japan summit is set to begin in Tokyo.
Thanks to @POTUS’s leadership, the United States has negotiated a historic agreement with Japan, one of our great allies. Prime Minister @shigeruishiba and Minister @ryosei_akazawa worked hard with our trade team to secure this mutually beneficial partnership, for which we…

Happening now: The largest protest of wartime Ukraine is underway in central Kyiv over President Zelensky’s push to dismantle the country’s independent anticorruption agencies. Thousands of protesters and more pouring in. Chants of “Shame!” among others. They demand Zelensky veto…
Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement, has called the Ukrainian prime minister to express “serious concern” about the new law that will bring the anti-corruption agency under the oversight of the prosecutor general. President Zelenskyy can still veto the law.
Frank discussion with @Svyrydenko_Y and @taraskachka. Expressed serious concerns over the latest Rule of Law developments, especially changes adopted to the law on NABU & SAPO. We'll continue working with Ukraine on the necessary rule of law reforms & progress on its EU path.
Seriously concerned over today’s vote in the Rada. The dismantling of key safeguards protecting NABU’s independence is a serious step back. Independent bodies like NABU & SAPO, are essential for 🇺🇦’s EU path. Rule of Law remains in the very center of EU accession negotiations.

Last week, the EU celebrated an agreement with Israel to improve the humanitarian situation on the ground and refrained from taking any action under the Association Agreement. This week, the EU is imploring Israel to stop killing Palestinians who are seeking humanitarian aid.
Civilians cannot be targets. Never. The images from Gaza are unbearable. The EU reiterates its call for the free, safe and swift flow of humanitarian aid. And for the full respect of international and humanitarian law. Civilians in Gaza have suffered too much, for too long.…
NEW: Following Israel’s bombing of Syria last week, the chatter in the West Wing grew louder: Benjamin Netanyahu is out of control, @BarakRavid reports. "Bibi acted like a madman. He bombs everything all the time," one White House official told Axios. axios.com/2025/07/20/isr…
This is the end. The Nord Stream saga is finally over for good, 20 years after it was launched by Schröder and Putin.
What's in the 18th package of EU sanctions against Russia? It targets: - 22 Russian banks - The Russian Direct Investment Fund - The two Nord Stream pipelines - 105 vessels from the "shadow fleet" Plus, a lower cap on Russian oil of $47.6 per barrel. Read the details.
The European Commission cannot yet confirm whether the UK, Canada and Japan support the new dynamic price cap on Russian oil. "It's something we will discuss with the Price Cap Coalition at the G7 level going forward."
In the end, the EU agreed to lower the price cap on Russian oil without the US. The new cap will be automatically adjusted every six months to ensure it remains 15% lower than the average price of Russian oil. This means it goes down from $60 to $47.6 per barrel.
