🧵 Caleb's Close-Up, my series diving deep into the advanced stats for Caleb Williams' rookie season, is finished, and I want to share all the articles here in one spot, along with key takeaways, for anybody who missed it:
One month from today is exactly 2 weeks before Chicago's MNF opener. That's probably about the minimum time I would think Jaylon needs to be fully ready to face the NFL's best WR. Hopefully this injury doesn't linger any longer than that.
Jaylon Johnson looks like he will be out for a month, according to @BradBiggs. But he sees a silver lining for players like Terell Smith, Nahshon Wright and Tre Flowers. "Guys are gonna get reps and opportunities to show what they can do."
Injuries are always tough to predict, but hopefully Burden's heals up fine and this doesn't become a lingering thing. Burden does not have a history of injuries, as he played in 38 of 39 possible games in college.
Ben Johnson says Luther Burden's soft-tissue injury is lingering. He's day-to-day and won't practice today. Shemar Turner has an ankle injury. Zah Frazier has been excused from practice for personal reasons. #Bears
Huge news on Braxton Jones. I had seen some speculation he might not even be ready by week 1. This means the Bears can have a legit competition with Jones and rookie Ozzy Trapilo, but with Jones fully healthy we know adequate OT play is the baseline expectation.
#Bears LT Braxton Jones and TE Colton Loveland are ready to go for training camp. They will have ramp up periods.
This is almost certainly just getting current physical status on a guy they'll monitor in case of injuries. Chark had 31 receiving yards last year - he wouldn't be one of their top 4 WR and doesn't play ST, so he has no place on this roster unless somebody gets hurt.
Former #Chargers WR DJ Chark, one of the top veteran free agents available, recently visited the #Bears, sources say. More from Chark here nfl.com/news/veteran-f…
