Rain stopping at Edgbaston. Plenty of puddles. The mop-up begins.
Sudharsan sets up like an old-school left-hander from the 1970s. Bat down, tapping the crease. Maybe like Roger Knight, who played for Gloucestershire, Surrey and Sussex and was later chief exec of MCC.
Question on Mastermind general knowledge this evening... "What is the name of the columnist and former England cricketer and television commentator known throughout the game as Bumble?" Contestant clearly didn't know but blurted out: "Boycott." @BumbleCricket
Slow play remedies... *Play until 90 overs are bowled. *Don't start at 10.30 - that further punishes fans who want to travel on cheaper, off-peak trains. *Courtesy of @Cricket_Ali, make the 4th umpire stand near the subs' bench on the boundary & stop non-essential interruptions.
At the scheduled close of play, we are TWENTY-TWO overs short.
So he declared at lunch with 367 not out. That's impressively selfless.

Oh dear, covers coming back on at Edgbaston. Another shower.
England scored 330-7 today of which 303 came in one partnership
97 runs in the afternoon session for Shubman Gill without ever appearing to be in a hurry
Seems an odd decision for India to leave out Bumrah. Surely, if he is playing only three Tests, then First, Second and Fourth make sense. And then perhaps consider him for the Fifth if the series is still alive. Guess he just wants to play at Lord's in the Third Test.
Very sad to hear that Wayne Larkins has died. When in the mood, few have ever made batting look easier. RIP Ned
India women’s batting brilliant. England’s bowling and fielding less so.
Drizzle ceased. Covers being removed.
Drizzling at Headingley. Covers coming on.
